Whiteout trailer

The teaser trailer just made it look like a homicide investigation in Antarctica, so I don't know if this trailer gives too much away (not directly) or not.

Anyway, it's based on the graphic novel and is Rated R for violence, grisly images, brief strong language and some nudity (hopefully it's Kate!).

I'm curious if they kept in the homoerotic relationship between Carrie and Tara, given that Rucka intended it to be a reference to that female cop show that aired on American TV in the 70s or whenever.

I'm guessing not though, looking at the cast.

Unfortunately they changed the gender of Tara's character. It's the part that Gabriel Macht plays.

It's a good graphic novel, but the movie has sat on the shelf for awhile and had its release date moved back a couple of times (it finished production in May 2007), which is often a sign that things haven't turned out well. September is also generally a dumping ground. And when Columbus Short, who is in the film, was asked whether it's anything like 30 Days of Night he replied, "Whiteout is a lot more boring than 30 Days of Night. I don't want to talk about it." So I'll hope for the best, but I'm not expecting much.

Unless it's a Weinstein movie, in which case release dates just keep getting delayed (often to the point of direct-to-DVD) because they don't know what the hell they're doing. :)

Wow, talk about gutting the source material. They might as well have just taken the second book and have her hook up with a Russian commando guy instead, if they wanted a hetero relationship.

I remember attending the Whiteout panel at SDCC in 2007. I was pretty excited for this movie. Then it failed to come out in 2007 or 2008. I'm afraid it's a dud.

Incidentally, Kate Beckinsale was fantastic in Nothing But The Truth. That movie also failed to get a proper theatrical release. Fans of Kate should buy or rent it. Meanwhile, I wonder when Kate will have another hit fillm.
