So Netflix is planning a new comedy called Space Force that will about the people charged with implementing Trump's Space Force idea. Apparently, Steve Carell and Greg Daniels from The Office will be involved in the show:

I hope this show happens. I think it has a lot of promise, especially considering how good The Office was. If they can capture the comedy of that show and combine it with the wackiness of the space force idea, it could be gold.

I also really want to see this. It's a brilliant premise. Also finding good Trump humor is hard these days. Everyone has done it to death so to find a new way to do it that isn't tired and played out is hard and I think this show could be it. They should make the Trump character hardly be in it but every once in awhile he pops in on a meeting or something with a new stupid idea and then leaves and it's up to these people to figure out how to make it work. I wonder if Carrel could or would play Trump? I don't think he would want to be a main star on the show but to come in and do these funny little moments, that might be the highlight of ever episode, and then leave seems like it could work.

I love your idea that "Trump" would pop in from time to time with a crazy idea. I doubt that "Trump" will be a main character in the show. My guess is that the show will not involve any real people in the White House but just involve this fictitious office of space force planning.

I doubt Carell will play Trump. My guess is that he will be the boss of the team although that might be too similar to his Michael character on The Office.

I think the Space Force is a good idea despite the administration from which it has sprung. That being said I also like the idea for this series and hope it is as funny as I think it could be.

Maybe.

But it more likely has something to do with how they paid $100 million to get Friends.

My wife is a millennial and she will not watch Friends.

"Old People TV for boring old farts."

Trump could just be shown from behind ala: George Steinbrenner on Seinfeld.

That would work. They could do that or they could just have his voice from another room where we never see him. I actually think that would be a great running gag in the show: how many ways can they include Trump in a scene without showing his face? Honestly, I think that would be more clever and funny than just having a straight up impersonator on the show.

Or more like Vera or Maris, but I tihnk having at least a voice would be necessary.

Is it a pseudo doc format or regular comedy? Show is a good idea, it’ll be interesting to see how much realism they aim for, if it’ll be deadpan style humor or more wacky.

You know Trump might be out of office by the time this show is ready to go. I guess we are just going to have to hope for another 4 years so it doesn't ruin the premise.

Actually, I'd prefer it if they didn't even do the voice. Maybe not even call him by name, just referr to him as "the president" and "Mr. President". Because we're flooded by parodies of Trump's person, I'd rather they don't succumb to that and stay focused on doing a satire of Trump's actual policies.

The Mayor last year was a very short lived comedy show, it was good, but EVERY episode was exactly the same. So it was canceled after like 10 episodes because nothing new ever happened. However it was the best satire of Trump because they just took what Trump did and made it into the theme of joke without ever saying anything about presidential elections.
