Why isn't there a "better than 'Raiders' and 'Temple' option?". Is it so inconceivable that someone could have such an opinion? :p I was really disappointed with the first sequel. I actually don't mind the girl and kid (who most people seem to dislike). I thought Kate Capshaw was pretty entertaining, actually.

What annoyed me about that movie was all the poverty and gore. Not that I have no tolerance for gore in movies, it just seemed out of place in what was supposed to be a fun adventure movie. While a lot about that movie bugged me, I gotta admit it probably has the best sequence in all of the Indiana Jones movies in that amazingly awesome mine cart scene.

    Totally agree.

Ah, but I did (albeit on VHS), and I don't. ;)

Covered by the "better than Raiders" option.

I confess to some alarm that twelve to ten voters called Temple better than The Mummy. Really, guys?! :p

    So it would seem.

    Raiders - classic
Doom - surprised it didn't stop the franchise cold
Crusade - great addition in Sean Connery, some great visuals (love the zeppelin), but miss Marion. Would this have worked without Connery?
Skull - can we take the awesome callbacks to the earlier films and paste them into a better overall movie?

Mummy - a fun ride, wouldn't have minded it being a -little- more serious. It's a shame that going forward Sommers seems to have taken exactly the wrong elements from this one to accentuate in his other films. Fraser and Weisz worked well together, Hannah was fine for what he was, O'Connor was an entertaining weasel - shame there was no way to bring him back.

There are two more movies that can be added to this list:
    Romancing the Stone
    Jewel of the Nile
i was always a fan of stone, but wasn't as big into jewel

Can't say that I'm a fan of any of the Mummy movies. The first one was okay but has zero re-watch value.
