Awesome. Has anyone come by and reacted to it, yet? If I was driving by and saw something like that, I would have to stop and say something....
That is one mightily impressive piece of work! I'm curious about the small size of the leg wheels - was that a deliberate design choice?
Hah...LOTS! People drive by and slam on their brakes, drive by and stop on the sidewalk, drive by and turn around to drive by multiple times, people come running down the sidewalk to look or out of their cars and take pics. Multiple groups of people who walk for exercise everyday changed their route to visit, school kids come by to ask questions and get their picture taken. It's getting tons of local attention, even before he was done being built things were happening like that. The rumor around town is that the gun shoots candy. Hmmm....
I did buy foam to make bigger wheels, but the foam's thickness was killing my carving knife and burning out the motor so I had to double-up on smaller foam and make smaller wheels. Some Primes have big leg wheels, some have none at all; so mine is in the middle :-)
Ah yes, foam is tough stuff! I ended up using a hand saw the last time I worked with it (an ostrich costume - it turned out well though!) Prime is fantastic - can't wait for halloween to see Megatron as well!
Well...he survived the 35-40 mph winds! So I thought I would show off my costume so far that will accompany Prime. What ya think?
Not bad at all. Are the feet going to be scaled to the cartoon bumblebee or the toy bumblebee? Either would cool for their own reasons. --Alex
