Sad to say but circumstances beyond my control are preventing me from putting out a column for Fan Film Friday this week.

I just returned to my apartment on Monday after spending a few months at my brother's place recuperating from the auto accident I was in last September. No sooner did I get here than I had computer problems, furnace problems and the clincher, phone problems, which means I won't have my old number back until at least Monday. I've spent an hour each day on the phone trying to get that straightened out, but it's been like pulling teeth.

Next week, however, should be a special preview that I've been looking forward to for a while now as FFF rises from the ashes then.

That's not entirely true Barb, video on the internet barely existed in 1999! :)

Randy... sorry to hear about your troubles.
Picard Alpha... well, you did post them recently in reverse order! I thought that was an interesting and daring approach! I expect to watch all four this summer, which is Fan Film season for me, since I don't have cable and over-the-air TV provides little but reruns.

Even as Triple F (Fan Film Friday) rises from the ashes of a week without a review, this time we have a preview of the first episode of Star Trek: Phoenix, which ""rises from the ashes of time" for an adventure entitled "Cloak and Dagger."

Even though the show won't be available for general viewing at http://www.stphoenix.com until Sunday, May 2, you can get a sneak peek of this excellent production by going to this week's Fan Film Friday at http://scifipulse.net/?p=25115#more-25115.

"Cloak and Dagger" is a terrific 30-minute adventure, and it's worth watching if only for the funkiest transporter effect I've ever seen!

There will be a debut party in the Seattle, Wash., area, but it you can't attend in person, there will be live coverage of the event via NDB Media from 5-6 p.m. PST at
    http://www.blogtalkradio.com/startre...pilot-premiere.

What else can I say? Enjoy!

Can anyone point me to the exact place you can download this in high definition? I feel like I'm misdirecting my webpage users because I'm sending them to a website where I, frankly, can't find the film. If I don't find it tomorrow morning, the headline comes down!

It's only available as a stream on their main page at the moment. There's a comment that says technical reasons mean the high resolution download won't be available until 4th.

Since it's the end of the week, it's time for another edition of Fan Film Friday. This time around, we look at the second episode of Star Trek: Encarta, which deals wth a subject that's pretty timely; terrorism!

Thanks for reviewing this Randy. I probably would never have checked it out otherwise. Its a great story. Part 2 got a bit bogged down at the beginning with the escape. Theres only so much you can do with whole lot of scenes in a virtual set before it gets a bit tedious to look at compared to a real set. But everything else was great and I agree with your review.:techman:

I dont know if its just me. But I have downloaded the video off the site after struggling to find it. They don't make it easy to find it. The video stops playing visually after 12 minutes but I can hear it. I'm downlaoding the HD format to see if its any better

Along with the end of the work week, Friday also promises another installment of Fan Film Friday. After running three live-action post-Nemesis projects in a row, I was glad to review Starship Farragut's latest animated adventure, "The Needs of the Many."

Because our usual site is out of whack for a few days, you can check out the newest entry for Triple-F fans here: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/

Thankfully, we've got the site working at top speed and efficiency again, and to prove it, here's a link to Starship Farragut's second animated episode, which is entitled "The Needs of the Many." I hope you have has much fun watching it as I did reviewing it.

In honor of Memorial Day, Fan Film Friday serves up some 45-year-old nostalgia as the crew of the Enterprise clashes with the Dynamic Duo of Gotham City. Yep, it's "Star Trek Vs. Batman". My review and a link to the independent production are right here: http://scifipulse.net/?p=26429#more-26429.

Sorry to let you folks know that I've been under the weather for the past couple of days and so I won't have a FFF column this week, but I'm working on something cool for next week. See you then!

I think it's time for a change of pace, so this week we'll look at a film of a different fan-favorite TV series. The independent production is entitled "A Leap to Di for" and is said to be the first fan film based on Quantum Leap.

    Here's the link: http://scifipulse.net/?p=27339#more-27339

    Enjoy!

This week's episode continues the Encarta's epic adventure and is ominously called "Condemned." It was expected to be the last of the series, so take a look at my review over at http://scifipulse.net/?p=27775.

    Enjoy!

"A Voice for the Voiceless" is an interesting combination of computer graphics and the uniforms from Trek XI as well as Classic Trek background music. And on top of all that, it has a message! Take a look over at http://trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=116066&page=3 to see what I mean.

    Enjoy!
