Did Tarantino and Mark L. Smith's script ever emerge?

The way this supposed project just came out of NOWHERE and seemed to disappear just as fast always had me suspecting it was some kind of contract negotiation ploy Paramount was pulling trying to light a fire under someone's ass to get Star Trek Kelvin 4 off the ground.

"No, we're not gonna pay you that, and if you keep insisting on it we're just gonna drop you altogether. We've got Quentin Tarantino blowing up our phone, who needs you anyway?"

I'm thinking like how back in the day Warner Bros. got Jack Nicholson to sign on to be the Joker by putting headlines in the trade papers about how close Robin Williams supposedly was to securing the role himself and how apparently he's extremely interested in it and all, lol.

Could have been for the investors, too. Seemed like a lot of unfulfilled promises were made at some of the earnings calls.
