Your favorite Jeff Bridges movies

This guy has been in some really good and underrated movies. If you haven't watched them I suggest you give the following movies a try. this list leaves out obvious movies many have likely seen or are very familiar with like The Big Lebowski or Seabiscuit.

The Fisher King- this one always has sentimental value to me because of the woman i saw it with.

Blown Away- Bridges plays a Boston PD bomb squad member who hides his past with the IRA and an old nemesis played by Tommy lee Jones comes back to make his life hell. Forrest Whitaker is also in the movie. Very good thriller.

White Squall - Based on a true story. Bridges plays the captain of a school ship that gets sunk in the ocean by a freak storm. GREAT movie.

Arlington Road- Bridges plays a professor who suspects his neighbor (Tim Robbins) of being a domestic terrorist.

Looking over his filmography, I realize I haven't seen a lot of movies Bridges was in, but I love all of the ones I have seen. In order of which I like most, they are:

The Big Lebowski
Starman
The Last Picture Show
Tron

I'm surprised I only saw ONE movie he made in all of the 90s since I saw tons of 90s movies (it's the era I grew up in). I guess I'll have to catch up on some Jeff Bridges flicks. I liked him in "Iron Man" as well, especially when he gets furious at the scientist for not being able to do what Tony Stark could do with far fewer resources. :)

American Success Company (gotta love those alligator shoes!)
Tron, of course.
Starman
Tucker

The Big Lebowski

The Fisher King

Fearless

The Contender

Iron Man (not a Jeff Bridges movie as such, but he is in it)

Thunderbolt & Lightfoot

Star Man

Tron

Jagged Edge

Winter Kills

K-Pax

Such a great actor. Delighted to see he's finally gotten that Oscar he deserves.

I so loved him in Starman. I must have watched that a zillion times when it first aired on HBO.

The Last Picture Show or The Big Lebowski would be my choice, although I haven't seen a good number of films he's made.

I haven't seen too many of his films, but Starman was one of my favorite movies in the 80's.

I also like Tron, and (don't laugh!) the 1970's version of King Kong.

A lot of good movies, but my personal favorites are three of his earliest: The Last Picture Show, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, and Rancho Deluxe. Rancho Deluxe is probably not a great film, but it has a kind of off-kilter, counterculture dropout charm that a lot of early '70s movies had, and not afraid to throw comedy and action and weirdo character study together and see what sticks.

American Heart (no, not Crazy Heart)
Fisher King
Fearless
Tucker
Vanished
Blown Away
Big Lebowski
Starman

The 1976 version of King Kong was panned when it first came out, but time has been good to it and it holds up well as a remake.

Love The Fisher King and Iron Man, but my absolute favorite Jeff Bridges movie is Starman. I still think THAT should have been his first Oscar win.

In order of release!

Starman
The Fabulous Baker Boys
The Big Lebowski
K-PAX
Surf's Up
Iron Man
Crazy Heart

With honorable mention to The Last Picture Show, Texasville, and Tron.

Still haven't seen Tucker...my dad would never let me rent it back in the day, and these days, I can't seem to find it at Blockbuster.

- edit, to add -

And, I suppose, out of all those, I'd say IRON MAN is my favorite, since I went as Obadiah Stane for Halloween a couple of years ago.

I think my favourite film of his is Starman -- he gives an excellent performance, and the picture itself is a good example of a sci-fi/romance done right.

I really need to see some more of his movies...

Agreed, I've had a soft spot for this movie since I was a kid and Bridges was good in it.
