XXX: The Return of Xander Cage aka XXX:3 return of Vin Diesel

Captain Craig

There was a few years there where Vin Disel made some lackluster career moves, like all actors, and faded away.

Then came word of a 4th The Fast & the Furious installment and speculation to outright laughter was hurled at the idea. Vin said he'd like to reprise a number of his characters starting with Dom in F&F. He stated a XXX sequel would hinge most likely on his ability to get F&F off the ground and make it a success.

Score one for Vin.

In his quest for the hat trick of franchise resurrections comes the now announced XXX: Return of Xander Cage.
Ericson Core ("Invincible") has signed on to helm "XXX: The Return of Xander Cage", the third installment in the action franchise for Sony Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter.
Vin Diesel is reprising the role of Xander Cage, the extreme sports athlete-turned-government operative he played in the first film. Ice Cube played a different lead character in the second film.
John Brancato and Michael Ferris ("Terminator Salvation") wrote the script which involves Cage's return to the National Security Agency after an eight-year absence. Richard Wilkes, who wrote the original movie, did a recent polish.

Fans of Riddick, stand by. If Xander can do what Dom did then the hat trick can be completed.

I would look forward to another Riddick movie, I don't plan on watching either of these 2 though, the original movies were crap anyway.

you know what, going back to these franchises speaks volumes about his career, but it speaks volumes about him as a man, his ego is in check, plenty of actors would not return even if there careers faded.

I watched Fast & Furious a couple of nights ago in Rifftrax form. My god it was awful. Granted I didn't see the first one, or the second one for that matter. I did see 3 fast 3 furious: Tokyo Fury, which wasn't what I'd call good, but it wasn't as mind bogglingly stupid and terrible as the last one!

I should check out the Riddick movies, as they're probably my only chance at actually liking something Vin Diesel does. Though what's funny, aside from the 'worst action star ever' schtick he does in his movies, whenever I see him do an interview on Conan or something he comes off as pretty likable.

I wonder if they'll actually bother to explain the reports that he had been killed in the second one.

Pitch Black is a pretty cool movie...He was also in The Iron Giant (as the Giant) and in Saving Private Ryan (as one of the 8 soldiers sent to save Ryan).

What do sequels have to do with egos being in check?

When your career has faded, sequels are an act of desperation (see Basic Instinct 2). Does C. Thomas Howell returning for The Hitcher II speak volumes about him as a man? Are the cast and crew of Interview with the Vampire somehow bad people because they didn't make the next four books?

He thought his career was better than these movies, they were not, so now he is going back to the roles he ditched when he thought he was better than them.

I suspect there will be some vague throwaway reference to it.

I'm totally on board for a xXx3 with Vin Diesel back in it. I loved the first one. The whole James Bond meets a Mountain Dew commercial vibe; I dig it. (I never bothered to see the 2nd one with Ice Cube. I think I have it on DVD somewhere as part of a 2-pack with the 1st one.)

I'd also be totally stoked for another Riddick movie. Pitch Black was excellent. The Chronicles of Riddick was kinda shaky but I thought the ending left things in a very interesting place. (When the movie ended with all of those Necromongers bowing down to Riddick, I thought, "Damn! THIS is the movie I wish I had been watching.")

Fast & Furious sucked. (I never saw the other 3, although I've heard good things about the 1st & 3rd ones.)

Interestingly, each franchise is the reason why he left another. He left 2 Fast 2 Furious to do xXx. He left xXx: State of the Union to do The Chronicles of Riddick.

What goes around comes around??? :)

Anyways I'm always up for more Vin Diesel movies, he seems like a nice guy, and he knows the type of movie he can do and what he can't do.

I'm going to make The Pacifier 2 with someone else as the star so that Vin will come back for The Pacifier 3.

Statham as the villain, I've never seen him as the bad guy in a film, and I think it would reflect on Vin's "good guy" status.

why not just say that the second movie didnt happen, ive seen it, I dont think anyone would miss it if it was no longer canon, it makes it much easier for the new movie as they dont have to worry about that line about Xander being dead
