A poll in connection with a story from my local newspaper

THE alpaca is a cute yet hardy animal, with a lustrous and valuable coat. But would you eat one?
Alpacas are generally friendly, easy to care for and rarely spit like their llama cousins.
And, as it turns out, they're also rather tasty.
Tasmanian gourmets got their first chance to sample alpaca meat at the Taste of the Huon festival yesterday, and the unusual dish proved to be a huge hit with curious customers.
The Judbury-based Chakaya Alpacas stud fired up the barbecue to offer Taste of the Huon patrons a selection of alpaca meat products, including burgers, kebabs and two types of sausage a spicy Mexican variety and a fancy chardonnay and lime combination.

Rest of story here

I would try it at least once to see what it tasted like. I know that alpacas are sweet animals but then so are little lambs and I eat lamb all the time.

No.

I don't eat anything other than beef, chicken, turkey or pork...and certain fish.

Mr. Paca did nothing do me so I'll let him live a long and healthy life outside my stomach.

I think I'm too old to add new animals to my diet... I added shrimp about 3 years ago and that's enough adventure.

The meats I have eaten at least once

Chicken, turkey, duck, mutton bird, quail, lamb, beef, pork, kangaroo, crocodile, venison, rabbit, oysters, crayfish, scallops, prawns, octopus, calamari and various kinds of fish.

Don't eat teh alpacas! They're too cute!

I have heard the name alpaca, but I don't think I ever believed it was a real animal!

I will try most meats (besides seafood), but I would need to trust that it was cooked right.

Yeah, I'd give alpaca a try. Over the last year and a half I've been trying a lot of new things. Never know till you go.

I voted no, because although I could never be vegetarian, I'm realizing more and more that I don't care for many types of meat. I love beef and burgers and steak, chicken is often good (and one of the leaner meats), I'll eat sliced turkey on a sandwich and maybe at thanksgiving, and I'll occasionally have bacon. But there are many types of beef I don't enjoy, I really don't like pork or ham (and in fact I prefer turkey bacon), I don't want lamb or duck, and I can't imagine myself getting adventurous about new animals to eat.
