Wm. Shatner looks good for a man near 80.

Mr. Scott

Commander
William Shatner looks good for a man who is nearly 80 years old. He looks like he's 20 years younger. He looks very healthy. Has he ever had any plastic surgery?

My parents are his age and look.....old. My father however, looks like Shatner's grandfather in comparison. But I wonder how much makeup places into that. But for an 80 year old man to keep working on a sitcom no less must mean he has a lot of stamina.

Does Shat have any grandchildren?

I have noticed that his head has gotten larger, to the point that he now has no neck. How did that happen? This is the only thing about him that has really aged. Leonard Nimoy on contrast, looks old. Shatner looks late middle age.

I think some people in certain professions just refuse to retire, thinking that they are going to die if they do nothing.

Critics say his new sitcom is not very good and had to be retooled several times. It would be cool if the show worked, with cameos from other Star Trek actors (maybe George Tekai can play a grumpy neighbor who dislikes Shatner's character.) I want to see the series, but I live in China so I have to wait for the show from a website.

So, why does Shat look younger? What happened to his head?

I actually think Leonard Nimoy looks good, too. Yeah, he looks old, but he wears it very well. And he's very lean, which can't really be said about Mr. Shatner :D.

I just watched Fanboys for the first time, and I was really surprised and pleased to see him appear (very briefly) in it.

I don't know how healthy he can be with that weight but, yeah, just looking at him, I'd never guess he was almost 80. I'd say he was about 60, maybe even his late-50s.

After Star Trek V he stopped aging. It must have been due to his fight with "God". :D

I think both he and Leonard Nimoy look good for their respective ages. I think it doing something you like and are passionate about counts for a lot.

Now that I think about it, Betty White also looks pretty good!

Yeah, it's the way he moves around too...not like some people the same age or even a bit younger that may have canes, for example.

Yeah, Nimoy may look older than Shat (though also not as old as his age), but he looks much BETTER. Shat looks like he's 15 to 20 years younger than he is, but he's fat, red-faced and giant-headed (makes me think of the name of his 3rd Rock from the Sun character ) while Nimoy is a tall, lean, dashing older gentleman.

But anyway - they're both holding wonderfully for their age, many people don't even live that long and I'm sure 99% of people in their late 70s/80 year old would be overjoyed to be nearly as physically and mentally vigorous and well-preserved as they are.

Shatner does look good for his age. I did catch the beginning of his new TV series. I thought starting a new series at his age is pretty courageous. It looks like he has no intention of slowing down.

When people badmouth Shatner for putting on a little weight after he hit 40, I try to wonder what they'll look like when they're his age.

He still goes horseback riding, doesn't he? I bet Shatner can still scramble around Vasquez Rocks and deliver a really mean hand-chop to a Gorn...

He was pretty spry when I saw him on Craig Ferguson's show last week. He was climbing up on the chairs and desk.

Both Shatner and Nimoy are afring well for their ages, good for them. I think they are now at that age where they can relax and have less pressure than in the days of the TRek series and then later the movies. A few years back Shatner was over in the UK doing some ads and he looked relaxed then, perhaps he the sort of guy that never seems to age.

I think it's partially his ego that keeps him going (Shatner). It's always seemed to me that the guy believes so intensely in his own talents and drive that he's able to just keep going, keep doing creative things and keep being entertaining at a point in his career/life when most of his contemporaries are slowing down or just dying off completely. I think that comes through somewhat his appearance, too.

It's the same with people like Ernest Borgnine, Bob Newhart, Don Rickles, Betty White. All these entertainers are in their 80's (one's in his 90's), and they still have the same drive and energy to go out and perform that they did in their 30's and 40's. That's not going to make you magically look awesome, but I think having that drive can indeed have an impact on the way you look.

It's the same with Nimoy, and I think Nimoy's even more impressive considering what a drinker/smoker he used to be back in the day.

William Shatner's new show is shat. Really bad. I more or less gave up on it.

I saw Ernest Borgnine in a stoner flick called "Strange Wilderness" when he was over 90. Looked healthy as a horse and fit as can be. He was only in the film for about 30 minutes, but still, the guy is over 90.

Don't understand why people have problems with Shatner's weight. Some people turn into skeletons, like Nimoy or Kirk Douglas, and others become fatter. That's just the way it goes, people.

He was walking a bit uncomfortably, when he was in London, this year.

I think he's had his hip broken, when his horse fell on him. I bet it twinges a bit when he throws his leg over and mounts!

Yeah, Nimoy may look older than Shat (though also not as old as his age), but he looks much BETTER.

I agree! Overweight people often look younger than they would otherwise, because fat fills in the wrinkles.

I'll speak only for myself... Age 60, body-mass index still in the normal range, thank you very much. ;)

It's not a matter of looks but rather health. There are photos of him I've seen that he looks like he's retaining water, which is a sign of heart disease. Losing weight would help that common health problem out.

I know he can be a pain some...most...of the time, but I'd still like to have him around for as long as I can.
