Why does Voyager have more than one Borg alcove?

I can't remember if this was ever addressed, but is there any particular reason why there are FOUR Borg regeneration alcoves on the ship? Shouldn't there only be one?

^I've wondered about that, myself.

Perhaps Borg technology is so heavily parallelized and distributed that a single alcove wouldn't even work ? :)

In any case, they sure came in handy when they later picked up those Borg kids.

Because there were originally multiple Borg on board. Chakotay ejected some of them into space.

And I guess "Survival Instinct" (one of my favoite eps) would not be possible without those four alcoves.

Seven and three other Borg drones had boarded Voyager to pair with the crew to defeat Species 8472. They created the Borg alcoves without anyone's permission. Chakotay had spaced the drones that had accompanied Seven. Borg drones and ex-drones like Seven who had been connected for a long period, used the alcoves for regeneration.

There was also a lot of difficulty untangling the Borg tech from Voyager's systems. Presumably, that grouping of alcoves were functionally installed as a set and unable to have some of them removed without taking all of them offline, so they just left them.

And, y'know, production-wise, it left them an opening to introduce other characters with Borg components (not just the Borg kids but also specific drones like One and the trio from "Survival Instinct").
