Why are "ghost hunts" always at night?

The paranormal has always been a subject that has fascinated me, though I'm an extremely cautious believer. I don't care for those "Ghost Adventures," "Most Haunted," "Paranormal State," whatever shows. It's just unbelievably fake. It's nothing but sheer entertainment.

Having said that, my question, seriously, why do all of these shows have their ghost hunts take place in the pitch blackness and shot with a night vision camera? It just seems to me, every single show has the shot of them in night vision, looking into the camera, wide-eyed, going, "...SHH! Listen!" then a distant thud or voice is heard and everyone starts screaming.

I don't understand!

It’s because nighttime is when all the spooky things come out, and the monsters that live under the bed will grab you if you’re not careful!

Becuase its the when the senses can play tricks on you. Plus it makes it more spooky to the individual watching it.

Never seen it, but interested.
Everything makes noise, escpecially when its old. But if you go during the day there is always a light, no night vision, no sense of fear. Night time your senses pick up the slightest pocket of air brushing your arm, slighest noise.

For the same reason on all of the crime investigation type shows that they fail to turn the lights on at the crime scene. Atmosphere.

Because its the when the senses can play tricks on you. Plus it makes it more spooky to the individual watching it.
I was only thinking about this last week, and you could look at it as said above. Or you could look at it that ghosts are there day & night, and senses are sharper at night, with less light to distract. Sometimes it seems that investigators work themselves up and could even be generating stuff themselves. But that's just my take.

^ how is this different than anything I have said?

I think the ending of the 15 second version covers the point well enough. You can google it if you want to see the whole 3 minute or so scene. Extended scene Spoiler: the Ghost Hunter guys repeatedly pee their pans after BS'ing themselves into a frenzy of idiocy.

Actually, there is reason for it, the "witching hour" or time when ghost activity is at its climax for a day is usually around 3AM.

Also, ghosts tend to like the dark, you don't hear about many hauntings in daylight for some reason, so they investigate when ghosts are at their peak in the day.

If you want to start up your own ghost hunting investigating group, and do it in the day, that would be an interesting contrast to whats out there, the results could be interesting and tell us more about peak times of ghostly activity.

If you wanted a less scientific answer it could be that the ghosts don't like hustle and bustle of the living during the daylight hours. They can finally get some peace at night and do their ghostly thing.
