Who was in charge of Lalla Ward's Wardrobe?

Guy Gardener

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
Every new adventure saw her wearing something fabulous and fetish theme-y.

off the top of my head...

female Tom Baker (Destiny of the Daleks)
Schoolgirl (City of Death.)
Hunting Mistress (Horns of the Nimon)
Sailor Girl (The Leisure Hive.)
Poker Playing Cowgirl (State of Decay. Not positive that's what she was going for if not Edwarian schoolboy.)
19th century Chinese peasant (warriors gate)

Meanhile it would seem, that everyone to come afterwards, the Doctor especially NEVER changed their clothes, which has me wonder if they washed their clothes ever or even washed them selves.

Case in point: Adrik.

Back to the point, was the wardrobe department on heroin or was this revolving door of interesting outfits input from Lalla?

this is one thing the Classic series has over the newSeries, they knew how to dress there female characters, the new series would not know a semi naked woman if one came up & kissed it.

I place the blame for this squarely at the door of RTDs, I dont know about anyone else here, but when ive gone shopping with the women in my life, ive generally picked out something on the skimpy side, unless its my sister of course.

I believe Lalla picked out her own outfits-- I seem to recall the "female Tom Baker" outfit in Destiny of the Daleks was her idea at any rate.

And yes, they were fabulous.

I adored Lalla Ward's outfits. They had a real eccentric and esoteric look and feel to them. I loved her take on the Doc's outfit.

A deliberate creative choice by JNT. He felt that the characters should wear "uniforms" so that they would always have a consistent look. I think possible merchandising may have been behind the decision.

Lalla's wadrbe was down tro the costume designer, who'd vary from story to story. But June Hudson was the designer on at least a third of Lalla Ward's stories, and she always let Lalla have her input, and was responsible for a lot of the most memorable costumes (without checking, I think the Destiny, City of Death, Nimon, Meglos/Full Circle and Warriors Gate ones).

I always get pissy when you guys sit around and talk about how hot some of these girls were(are) and never and i mean NEVER have any pics to back it up.

Come on guys.

This thing was definitely great about Romana II (and good for Lalla Ward for any input she had). More than one outfit is a good thing (Tom Baker seemed to have variety some times, although he kept his scarf because that's his trademark).

New companions definitely should change clothes (it would be weird if they didn't), but keep a general style. A Timelord on the other hand should have quite a bit more variety.

On one hand you can say that nanites keep everything clean, healthy and unpregnant...

Then you have to wonder why no one takes advantage of that fabulous Olympic size pool we saw somewhere in the Tom Baker Era, and i think it was in a comic that they claimed that the TARDIS has a beach and a small ocean in it somewhere.

having listened to the Galifrey series on CD, I really have to feel left out that I never, despite all the photoshopped covers, got to see her sported out as a regular galifreyan if not President, to see what the frack she was rebelling against, although I'd have to cosider how high the Girls of Galifrey do wear their hair, that those Photshoppd covers really painted an inexact picture that, remember Flavia, our Romana might have clearly nearly been a foot taller.

Having only seen Flavia for the first time recently again in lo these last 25 years, I said Holy shit: it's Black Adders mum! Which has me wonder how different trial of a time Lord would have stood if Brian Blessed (Black Adders Dad) and she got to share some scenes while bickering over the doctors guilt and the terminality of young Peri.

Hey.

Black Adder is the Doctor too. :)
