Who saw Shatner's Saturday Night Live Sketch in 1986?

Who saw William shatner's saturday Night live sketch in late 1986 ? I recall him making a joke about TJ Hooker 4. There was a skit with Dana Carvey in a space restaurant involving someoen playing Khan. soneone played Spock and someone played Mc'Coy. I recall Mr. Shatner wearing the gold shirt from the 1960s.

Dana Carvey was Khan. Kevin Nealon was Spock (he sounded like Data) and the late Phil Hartman was a passble McCoy. There was another sketch in which Shatner, as TJ Hooker, spent an entire episode on the hood of a car travelling cross-country. The SNL episode is most famous for the over-reductive but funny as hell "Get a life!" sketch.

I saw it when it originally aired. (Note that there was no Data yet, though he was probably being conceived about then.)

My favorite bit, from the restaurant sketch:

[Man begins to choke.]
Kirk: "Bones, this man need medical attention."
McCoy: "Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a--oh, right...."
Spock: "Doctor, allow me." [Performs the Vulcan neck pinch, causing the man to eject his food. Big audience laughs.]

There was also a memorable gag about an out-of-shape Asian man who was supposed to be Sulu...Khan interrupted a monologue to react to his appearance. "Sulu!?! My god, man, what happened to you?" Years later, when Patrick Stewart hosted the show, the same man revised his role as Sulu in the "Love Boat: The Next Generation" sketch.

I probably still have a low-grade copy of a copy of that buried somewhere on tape.

Yes, I saw it originally, too--it wasn't until I saw it re-runs in the mid-90s on Comedy Central that I noted the Nealon/Data thing--it's just he tone of his voice, I guess.

"We all get older, Khan."

Same Sulu, btw, in the Belushi Trek sketch from the 70s. That's why they had him in "The Love Boat" sketch: SNL canon. ;)

I was there... in mom's basement and man, did my sisters LAUGH at me when the "Get outta yer Mother's basement" comment was uttered by the Shat, as we were watching SNL in mom's basement.

The guy was on the SNL crew, I think, and I believe he'd played Sulu in the original "Trek Cancellation" featuring John Belushi a decade earlier. Carvey's whole "Sulu!" thing was apparently an ad-lib at his expense, spinning off from Kirk's earlier remark to him about not "making me regret my policy of free food for the crew." Shatner pulls the sketch back onto script a moment later.
