Yes, but for all that they were all going for the same ideal: muscular white guy, black hair, blue eyes, great smile, red and blue strongman suit. Dean Cain matches the ideal beautifully. It's kind of a trick question, because what Superman looks like in the comics changes greatly in different eras and in the hands of different artists...and many of those artists went into it influenced by the look of a particular actor from a prior live action production.
Exactly my thought. Each artist had his own take on Clark Kent/Superman and of course his own style. Joe Shuster, Wayne Boring and Al Plastino didn't draw Superman exactly the same. Neither did Curt Swan, Dick Dillin and Neal Adams. Or John Byrne and Jerry Ordway. It's kind of a trick question, because what Superman looks like in the comics changes greatly in different eras and in the hands of different artists...and many of those artists went into it influenced by the look of a particular actor from a prior live action production.

Sorry. Brown eyes are an automatic disqualification. Even Brandon Routh wore contacts! He's still closer than everybody else.
Brandon Routh was too skinny and too milquetoast. Contacts didn't help.Sorry. Brown eyes are an automatic disqualification. Even Brandon Routh wore contacts!
Skinny?Brandon Routh was too skinny and too milquetoast. Contacts didn't help.
So no brown eyed actors need apply.I would rather see The Ancient One played by an old Asian man than a sour-pussed bald English woman, because my preferences are in the actual fucking comics I read as a kid.
