What's the nearest body of water to you?

For me it's the Mohawk River in Schenectady NY, the second closest would be Collins Lake in Scotia (right across the river), and the third closest would be Vale Pond in Schenectady.

30 years ago it was Chesapeake Bay when I lived in Norfolk, VA.

What's the nearest body of water to where you live?

The south branch of the Flint River, about 50 yards away. Then there's the Holloway Reservoir, which both the south and north branches flow into, about 3 miles to the west.

The closest truly large body of water would be Lake Huron.

For me it would be a toss-up between the Columbia and the Willamette rivers. The Pacific Ocean is about 60 miles from here.

My house is a little under a mile away from the Mississippi River.

The River Avon, flowing through the Avon Gorge under the Clifton Suspension Bridge built by Brunel.

Technically, it's the Rideau Canal, but if you're talking major bodies of water it's the Ottawa River. After that, it's probably be the St. Lawrence River, about 100 km to the south.

I guess that would either be Lake Washington or the Puget Sound, I'm about in the middle. Where I grew up was located on the Columbia River, I guess that counts as a major waterway as well.
