Well, the
video conspiracy theorists were right about last year's finale.
The two actresses were NOT in the same room at the same time.

You know... my daddy used to say it was always better to tell the truth, since it was easier to remember a truth than a lie.
Looks like Archie has already neatly skewered the "Archie was busy filming 'The Fall' excuse" on twitter that Julianna tried to float.
Previously Archie had merely reported she didn't know why they decided to film it as they did.

In searching for stuff on the final scene... I laughed at Ausiello's fervent hope for the SERIES
finale's final scene.

And here in lies the crux of the problem that Julianna created for herself. By not filming the scene "straight",
she begets the questions about "why did they do that?" And the answers she's giving... that
ARCHIE was too busy (denied by the actress) or that
ALICIA shouldn't have to bother with a character that slept with her husband, make no sense with regards to the actual filming.
The only thing that makes sense is the two actresses are not getting on for some reason, so Ausiello and the rest of the Alicia - Kalinda fan base shouldn't hold their breath waiting for a "final" acknowledgement of the bond between the characters in the series finale.
Julianna did bring up a good question,
would we be as invested if it was 2 men portraying these characters... and for me the answer is "yes".
The problem is... the issue wasn't the way she explained it in the interview.
Kalinda, her "best friend",
didn't sleep with Alicia's husband.
Her husband slept with a woman Alicia didn't know, someone she met later, someone her character purposely forged a relationship with.
Rather than explain Alicia's animosity by blaming the bedroom betrayal, Julianna should have simply focused upon the
lie of omission that Kalinda told Alicia every day of their friendship.
Of course, had Julianna said
that it wouldn't have explained why they shot the scene with the two actresses in separate rooms.
This story is like that
ST: TNG episode
"Clues", where the answers don't line up and it forces us to ask more questions.

Here's to hoping the cast and crew of "The Good Wife" haven't somehow come into contact with "the Paxans" like the Enterprise D did.
It sounds horrible, but I think I would have preferred a final scene with Alicia at the bar, the bartender handing her a drink and another note from Kalinda, and watching Alicia dissolve again for the loss of a friendship she could never allow herself to have once she came to distrust Kalinda's motives.
Who knows, I could be wrong and THIS will be the SERIES' final scene.
