What kept the VISOR on?

Why does it matter how the prop was kept on? The visor could've been a prosthetic appliance than something solid to the actor's face. Seriously, the show's been cancelled for more than 20 years; I'm pretty sure you could discover your questions thread has an answer on Google or any of the Star Trek websites.

why are you opposed to someone asking a legitimate question about a prop on a forum about Star Trek?

In-universe, it attaches to surgical implants on the sides of Geordi’s head. IRL, how did they keep the prop stationary on Burton’s face?
I know Burton has said it was unpleasant. It always looked like it just gripped the sides of the head and rested on the nose. There's some shots of him wearing the prop he still owned when he was offering a chance to wear it:

Looks like he just wore it. Maybe on screen they might have used spirit gum or something similar to keep it steady as with other facial prostheses.

According to Memory Alpha:
"A tiny filament stretching from the VISOR prop to behind LeVar Burton's ear was used to keep the prop attached to his face."

I've actually wondered about this several times but not enough to look it up. Thanks for actually making me look into it, OP!

Seriously? This is a Star Trek board, where we can talk about all things Star Trek.
Plus...your signature talks about some costume from a show that went of the air more than 50 years ago...

I think he just kept it on like gasses, but I wouldn't rule out adesive. The being unpleasant was probably mostly because he could see very badly.

I think there was some kind of gummy adhesive on LeVar's temples and the VISOR sat on the bridge of his nose.

Unnecessary criticism of the OP. Cool it!

You can sometimes see bits of the string that went around his head.

A Trek discussion board is for Trek discussion.

Yeah, I read he had headaches, so even though I always liked Geordi with the VISOR I was like "Oh hell yeah" when he changed to the contacts. Fuck that, walking around set with shit drilled into your head all day.

I always wondered what it was like looking through it during long takes. I'd imagine it took some taking used to.

Seriously, is this your first day on the internet?

I understand your frustration S. I feel it many, many times myself.

Well, the series wasn't canceled in the traditional sense, just ended. The producers and cast knew a big screen movie was coming and they'd all reached the point where their pay was more or less the maximum that Paramount would agree to for a weekly syndicated series. So it properly concluded and went off the air, as opposed to TOS and ENT which were just outright canceled by their respective networks.

Yeah, Star Trek: Picard ;)
when they melon-balled the face of Icheb, I did not speak up because it was not my favorite minor character's eye socket.. when they replaced the extraordinarily awesome Brian Brophy with that guy from the Oak Ridge Boys, I did not complain because I like the Brophy thread. When they just said "Screw it" and cloned 100 copies of the same star ship like they got all their fx queues from Last Starfighter, it was too late. I meant to add something witty to connect this all together but I kind of painted myself in a corner.
