What happened to Brooke Stephens?

Lipton

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Hi there,

Scarlett Pomers played Naomi Wildman for most of the character's run on the show (not counting the baby, who didn't do any acting at all)... except on three occasions:

Vanessa Branch plays an adult Naomi Wildman in the future of an alternate realty in "Shattered"

in "Nemesis" Brooke Stephens voices Naomi Wildman offscreen

Stephens also portrays her on screen in "Mortal Coil"

This leads me to the question: Does anyone know why Stephens stopped playing her?

Just guessing but the availability of young child to work between school for a sporadic gig is not legendary.

I was thinking that scarlet was possibly older, but they had a 10 year old playing the part of a three year old... but they couldn't get a handle on kes' growth spurts...

"Doctor, I think something is wrong with the baby. It's been 6 weeks and she's still a baby."

But if you look at brooks IMDB.

She obviously didn't want to, or couldn't be an actress.

Yep, two episodes of Voyager in '97, two episodes of ER in '98, and that's it.

That's a pretty short career. She must have decided she didn't like it, or couldn't do it, as you said.

I have never seen an episode of Reba.

But clearly of the main cast, which Scarlett's 16 episodes barely warrant, 7 years of Reba (176 episodes.) makes her the most successful actor on Voyager, post Voyager, after Ryan and Picardo.

Scarlett definitely had more acting experience, making her debut in a Michael Jackson video in 1992 or around that time. And she was better at acting than most child actors when she was a child. Lately, she tried to have a music career and unfortunately, I'm not sure if it worked out that well.

Yeah, hmmm... on that note of Voyager cast member acting success, what do you think sets these three apart from the other Voyager cast members?

Mulgrew doesn''t have to work.

Beltan seems to enjoy the theatre,

Roxanne and Robbie are behind the camera.

Tim is everywhere, but hundreds of guest spots is just a different sort of way to look at the job.

They destroyed Jennifer, it's amazing she got her shit together.

Ethan is always going to be that gross guy from Benson.

And Wang spends most of the time fighting robots from the future sent to kill him for being fucking useless.

Water finds it's own level.

free airfare, accommodation and food, as well as personal assistants to drive and run (fanboys working for tickets and first dibs on what's left over at the end.) and then they get paid. From the one con i got to hear the inner workings of, the primary sponsor, playstation, whatever, hands over a sum of money and says this has to be used to pay for guests, and the organiser figures out how to stretch that sum as far as possible.

.

Also you left out the beautiful one.

Guy left out the "beautiful" one?

I think not.

after Ryan and Picardo

He didn't include the producing/directing efforts of RDM or RD... and I don't think its fair to suggest Beltran loves the theater and that Mulgrew doesn't "need" to work. She's been doing theater since she left Voyager, most famously her one woman show on Hepburn, and most recently her Cleopatra in Hartford.

As for Ethan Phillips... http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0680392/ I think its safe to say he hasn't been sitting on his hands since Voyager ended!

Just trying to keep up my reputation for being feisty! ;)

This seems to be the part that they should be paid the most for. I would definitely need to be paid a tidy sum to have those guys fawning over me. At least from what I've seen at cons and I don't think they vary much.

And yes JRulez I overlooked the non-overlooking of Ryan :)

You can feel like a man for once.

Waking up in a strange bed wondering what happened to all your hair.

Of course, unlike the male archetype, you know that your tressels are on ebay, if you didn't sleep though the closing bids of course.

So I want figures, what kind of money do they actually get paid?

I'm paying 120.00 to see Jeri Ryan this year. She is a lot more money than Mulgrew or Wang or Phillips but I think this is about the same as Patrick Stewart was. The VIP tickets are 650.00 which is 300.00 more than any of the other VIP tickets have been. No I am not going VIP. Since there are a maximum of 200 guests at these conventions I'm wondering what she gets after the plane fare and hotel room. There's also Manu Ikebanabung coming so she's not even getting the full amount, presumably he gets like 1/5th of what she gets LOL
