Was Robert Duncan McNeill given a hairpiece at the start of Season 4?

Between "Scorpion, Part I" and "Scorpion, Part II" he suddenly sprouts more hair in the front!

And, when did Robert Beltran go from "salt-and-pepper" to "jet black?" :borg:

it's called hair dye and combing forward

Re: Was Robert Duncan McNeill given a hairpiece at the start of Season

I know what it's like to comb my hair "forward," so he and I both have something in common. ;)

:( Please don't do that. I'd rather see a receding hairline than a clever combing job.

I thought McNeill's hairline was receding slightly, but not combed forward. I must have missed it. What bothered me more was his gut in later seasons. I wouldn't nitpick someone like this in real life, but he is/was a tv star. He was a fit, handsome man whose career was in large part based on his looks. His image was being preserved on film. Why let yourself go?

Ask Jonathan Frakes.

It's not like he was huge or anything.

I always thought he looked too thin in the early seasons. The little bit of puffiness made him look older.

True, he was never huge. If he were a guy walking down the street, I wouldn't notice his size. But there were brief shots where you could see a gut, and I'd realize they'd been disguising it and hiding it for most of the show. It took away from Tom's image as a lady's man. Same thing with Frakes. Hell, I'm not on tv and I still do my crunches. They know they're going to be on display to millions, you'd think they'd care a little more.

what gut? he gained a little weight in the 4th season (you can see it in Vis a Vis) because his wife was pregnant and he said he was eating more with her. But after that he looked great.

Re: Was Robert Duncan McNeill given a hairpiece at the start of Season

i can't speak for all guys, but most of my guy friends who are in longterm relationships or have gotten married have put on a little weight, including me. i think that's just natural. guys are no longer worried about attracting a mate so appearance is not as high on the list. my guy friends who are still single and dating still worry about their physical appearance, including my brother. if you don't buy that argument, then there's always the point that as you get older your metabolism slows down and it becomes easier to put on weight.

therefore, one could make the argument that tom wasn't worried about his appearance anymore b/c he had settled down with b'elanna and was no longer worried about being a "lady's man."

I never thought Paris looked like he had a gut. At least they acknowledged the hair thing by having Future Tom have a thinning hairline in "Endgame".

I agree with you! I also think that women don't like an empty fridge. I was in a 4 yr relationship and was always about 10 to 20 lbs overweight. She always grocery shopped so the fridge was always full with food and leftovers. Now that I'm single again I have lost those 20 pounds! My fridge has some mustard and some iced tea in it and thats it. Money is once again spent out at the bars and not at the grocery store. I still eat, but not it is not a ritual. I just do it when i have time between work and play.

Let me get this straight-people in Star Trek wear hairpieces on occasion? Naaaahhh!

Re: Was Robert Duncan McNeill given a hairpiece at the start of Season

There is at least one character in TOS who had a hair piece later on.
