Voth vs the Dominion

Voth commando1

So are favorite space dinosaurs run into the dominion? Conflict erupts

The Voth:
Transwarp technology and extremely advanced tech can teleport a ship Voyager's size, render computers useless, and have personal cloaking devices

Dominion:
Sophisticated genetic engineering, Jem'hadar that can shroud, one example of telekinetic Vorta, of course Founder infiltration as well.

Who would win?

The Voth, hands down. Voyager could take on a Jem'Hadar ship. Maybe not win, but it would be *close*. The Voth treated Voyager like a primitive toy shuttlecraft. They'd stomp all over the Dominion.

(And I'd like to note that my assessment is not based on a personal preference between either - I actually find the Vorta more interesting. ;) )

Jem hadar ships would be knocked out at a canter by the Voth in a straight-up technological contest.

There's the Changeling factor to consider though. If a couple of changelings were to infiltrate the Voth there'd be anarchy. Particularly as the Voth are very suspicious and very highly strung.

A Voth and a Vorta are in a bar, and the bartender says, "...", but before he can get a word out the Vorta turns to the Voth and says, "I've heard this joke before, and the bartender's a jackass. Let's get outta here."

;)

The Voth have faster ships as well. But the Voth were also able to be knocked out by Tom Paris. Once you get passed their tech they would be at a disadvantage in a combat situation. The Dominion would be patient and learn all they can before attacking.

Tom Paris was locked out of any controls though and just overpowered one guard by surprise.

Did we ever see Voth shields in effect? I know it wouldn't have been necessary against Voyager, because ,lol.. c'mon... really? But it would seem to reason that the Voth would have some pretty damn impenetrable shielding for their ships.

I don't think the Dominion stands a chance. The Voth are either going to laugh at the incoming assault and just leave at trans-warp speeds, or they'll obliterate the enemy and carry on.

As far as I can tell, the Voth have one city ship. The Dominion has the resouces of an entire quadrant. No doubt the Dominion would take appalling losses, but if the Voth stand and fight I think they'll eventually be overcome by sheer weight of numbers. Massed attacks and suicide attacks might eventually wear down their shields, if they stay and fight. They can always outrun the Dominion, though, as long as their transwarp hasn't been knocked out, and I think eventually it would be.

There are more Voth out there, Gegen mentions various academic committees and general Voth society. Not to mention implying class distinctions as well.

I never got enough of a sense of the scale of the Voth Empire. We do know The Dominion is vast. The Voth win hands down so far as technology goes - transwarp, for starters. Beaming a starship into their city ship is pretty fearsome tech. I think The Founders ability to infiltrate could allow for them to overcome the technological disadvantage so... The Dominion triumphs.

True... but if Voth sheilds are what I suspect they are, they won't be any sneaky beaming aboard a Voth ship.. they'd have to infiltrate from a planet, or join a Voth group on another ship/location and beam over willingly with the Voth.

Consider the sheild capabilities of the Ancient Atlanteans from Stargate: Atlantis.... with just a single ZPM at full charge powering an entire city's shields, they can withstand an orbital assault from dozens of ships for centuries, if not thousands of years. That is the kind of tech a civilization that is millions of years old can produce.

I think that even with the superior numbers of the Dominion, and let's be honest, they are not going to, nor could they practically, send EVERY ship and EVERY Jem'Hadar warrior to a single battle; the Voth just shrug it off, take out what the can, and when shields show weakening, or they get tired of this, they just transwarp away.

Ok assuming I am wrong about there being many more than one city ship (but as Krako said [and was wrong about], "Maybe there ain't no more." Naw ok I do accept there are more from the statements cited), then I do think the Voth probably could come up with technology that can detect Changelings. I mean, we've all been lauding their tech prowess. It probably extends into other areas.

The Voth have probably traveled to the Gamma Quadrant--I wouldn't bet against them knowing all about the Dominion. They may have observed the Founders and already set up countermeasures. Given transwarp, why not?

Of course all this would mean the Federation as well would be toast vs the Voth. Borg probably as well, although there you at least have transwarp parity. Really it looks like only 8472 could take them.

The Voth were an interesting idea. Star Trek's Silurians. It's a pity they didn't do more with them.

I wonder why they didn't manage to just conquer the whole galaxy. I mean, with tens of millions of years of space flight development, they are by far the oldest currently flying corporeal life-forms out there. You'd think there should be evidence of them all over the place.

Which raises the question, why isn't there?I guess the Voth reached the size of civilization they wanted and just...stopped? Didn't care to move out more? Decided to leave everyone else well enough alone? I guess this is not too uncommon amongst Trek ancient alien types. Seems that the natural development is to get too powerful to have anyone be a threat to you and then just close shop and mind your own business.

And that's cool.

I suppose the Voth lack the impulse for conquest. They are probably technologically able to mop the floor with the Dominion, they just don't care. If the Dominion saw the need to keep poking them, the Voth would likely swat back, but I can't see them carrying the fight all they way to the Founders. Why not? Cause they just don't care. And eventually I'm sure the Founders would come to terms with that and leave them alone.

I get the impression that while the Voth are immensely powerful their society is also incredibly conservative, dogmatic, and slow to change. They have perhaps lived on their city ships for tens of thousands of not hundreds of thousands of years.

Also recall Chakotay says Voth doctrine warned of disaster if they pursued Transwarp they did and apparently Doctrine evolved to accommodate it.

I imagine Gegen's theories were seen as quite dangerous to the ruling powers in Voth society not just cause of the legitimacy implications but because it would cause a lot more change and cultural dynamism than they were glacially willing to accept.

If your already a lizard--I guess transwarp doesn't hurt.

I never liked that--go fast--become a salamander/lizard .

I say the Voth poisoned subspace with virus spores that got caught inside intakes.
