I made this a size that allows decks drawn 5 pixels apart to be spaced at 1/28 ship height, so 3.7 meters deck to deck, with overall height of the ship of 106.87, length 481.32, and beam 341.76. I thought that was reasonable.

Then I looked at the Gilso remake of the Jackill schematic and found decks at 1/36 ship height, 3 meters apart. Here it is, resized to match. One reference I found did mention 28 decks.

I've noticed before that some of the Gilso/Jackill things show too many decks, and that may be the case here, as well, but I'm not sure and should make a determination before getting too carried away with this.

Sternbach has said that all or most of the ships he designed had a fairly consistent deck height -- you might have to search the archives to find out what exactly the number was.

That's what I used as the basis for my layout above. This is for my LCARS system, which requires a maximum width of 706 pixels for these things. Five-pixel deck spacing makes it 12.2 feet deck to deck, and four would be 10 feet. Those are the two choices here, and either would fit into the above outline, even though I sized it specifically for five.

His designs are usually based on 12 to 13 feet per level. I was just getting a bit worried when I looked closely at the Gilso/Jackill drawing. In a drawing this sizs and resolution a single pixel represents just over 2 feet for a ship this large, so this is kind of splitting hairs, but it's good to have the right number of decks before getting into adding details.
