Spoilers V'Draysh, Zora, Discovery & Control - A Working Theory

Go with me on this. I just rewatched Calypso and I'm doing a little rainy day speculating.

Control - The AI that controls the V'Draysh 1000 years into the future.

V'Draysh - A corrupt evolution of the Federation. Control has manipulated the Federation until it is unrecognizable. It accomplished this through chain of command manipulation via the use of holographic imagineer "deep fake" communications. The V'Draysh may have some human remnants that support Controls function but mostly Control projects its presence throughout the galaxy through the means stated above. The escape craft that Craft used was obviously meant for a human or someone speaking Federation Standard. This indicates that there are human V'Draysh - likely duped into of indoctrinated - who do support control's mission. The V'Draysh are obsessed with old Earth / Federation information to help it evolve further. More knowledge mean more control.

Discovery - Discovery is sent to the future at the end of Through the Valley of Shadows or beginning of episode 13 to prevent Control from accessing the Sphere data or pushing the evolution of Control far enough into the future that the Federation can prepare to destroy it.

Zora - Zora is Ariam or what is left of her and a merging of the Sphere Data that is on board discovery. Zora may be the key to ultimately defeating Control. If control can evolve so can Zora / Discovery.

It would not surprise me to see the Enterprise deliver a new shuttle to Disocvery or one be mentioned in this weeks episode since Craft's shuttle was new and Discovery had just taken delivery of it. The humans on Alcor IV fled the Federation when they realized what was happening.

I could be totally wrong and Zora / 1000 year in the future Discovery may not have squat to do with the plot.

This is what I've been speculating about too (ever since I heard the rumor that Discovery is evacuated by Pike's order in ep 12 or 13). I think it's a solid theory if we assume Calypso is going to tie in to the show more directly in the next few eps. I think it has a lot of poetry to it, an AI that develops with compassion and empathy due to the experiences of the Discovery crew eventually being the counter to the logical coldness and cruelty of CONTROL's AI.

Man, what if the ship starts talking back to them in Zora’s voice this week!

Overall I like your theory, only thing; why would control be interested in old earth entertainment?

Id say it would be interested in old earth everything because to destroy your enemy you must know as much as possible about your enemy. Psychological side of warfare.

This is pretty much my working theory, too. I guess we'll see!

Control has shown an abiding interest in old knowledge, anything that can help it evolve. Maybe it has whatever human minions remain searching constantly for old artifacts. Thus, the V'Draysh develop an interest in old media and information.

it found 23rd century Federation's hidden Betty Boop fan art collection.

I could buy forcing someone to have to watch Betty Boop on a permanent loop as contravening anti-torture statutes on most planets.

They're going to pull the rug out from beneath us: Pike will order the Discovery to be evacuated, everybody beams over to the Enterprise.

Then Pike will get radiated in the warp chamber while trying to repair the warp drive to save everybody. Spock will be there, both will put their hands on the glass seperating them, Pike will say Spock has always been his friend, and will always be. Then they will put him in the chair.

In the final episode Burnham takes over the Captain's chair of the Enterprise, season 3 onward will take place on the Enterprise with Captain Burnham with First Officer Spock. There will be an addition in the cast of a young, cocky cadet called "James T." on the bridge, that will somehow outrank Spock at the end of the series. Despite that, most episodes of season 3 will be soft-remakes of concepts from TOS.

I suspect Zora maybe what remains of the AI, and Discovery is sent far into the future, with the AI trapped on board, where it can't do any harm.

I wonder if "Zora" is the Legend of Zelda reference being teased by the writers for tonight's episode? In early games the Zora were an enemy race, but later games show they were once a friendly race.

Maybe that change in character hints at the CONTROL AI becoming the benign ZORA?

If they were going to do that, I'd prefer it was just a straight reboot where the Kirk, Mitchell, Scotty, etc just were new members of Pike's crew and Pike stayed on longer, giving a reason for remixing the old episodes. Pike-card with Commander Ri-Kirk, basically.
