Uhura's costume in "City on the Edge of Forever"

I saw the remastered version of "City on the Edge of Forever" on Heroes and Icons on May 9, 2020 and in the first scene on the bridge of the Enterprise Uhura seemed to be wearing a black band around the lower left arm of her uniform, above the cuff.

Does anyone know if it is correct and what the reason for that would be.

No one knows for sure. Some people think it was a storage belt for her earpiece. She wears the band in more than one episode.

Yeah, I brought this up awhile back (as had others before me). The following episode has her weating a black belt, much like she did on the landing party in "City." The consensus was it was as @Tosk said. Also, the late Greg Schnitzer pointed out it was discussed at StarTrekHistory.com:

I always assumed that she was on a security detail and that was part of her added utilities in that role?
