Round-up...

I want to start with SCRUBS and I don't care what the ratings are, I enjoy the show so much am glad its back next season on ABC. Its my favourite comedy sitcom of all time and while it may have lost some steam, the show is still able to make me laugh plus even with the small cannonical error with Kelso, last night's fairytale episode was amazing and there was a little bit of hope for the J.D/Elliot shippers. NBC may of stuck around with the show for 7 years and 150 episodes, which I say thank you but it still doesn't change the fact that the massive drop off in viewers which began in the 4th season was due to NBC's handling of airing the show.

Speaking of another comedy or so called comedy...Ugly Betty is in serious trouble and I don't think the strike is cause of the show shrinking fanbase. The simple fact is that the show is no longer that good after only 1 season (I like to call these shows 1 season wonders) and for me the show will struggle next year to get a 4th season but IMO I think ABC will keep the show until it has a nice re-run package.

Even Scrubs could get a lift when it used to be aired out of The Office with a great demo but 30 Rock does nothing no matter when NBC air it. Next season NBC needs to cut 30 Rock and My Name is Earl loose and revamp the Thursday night comedy lineup. The Office should be paired up with the spinoff and NBC should also re-pick up the IT Crowd US spinoff.

Smallville ratings went up slighty and getting just under 4 million for the CW is no small achievement, however I will stand by my prediction that at somepoint during the 8th season that the show will drop to the 3 million barrier if not lower.

Ugly Betty could be alright because of one thing: the production is moving to New York, effectively cutting expenses on the show thanks to the NY film tax credit. It's a bit deal right now with about 300 people losing their jobs. As with anything, we still have to factor in the syndication money (which you did) as well as the all-important ancillaries (DVD's especially).

Just wait until this time next year when Smallville's been renewed for Season 9.

Some news about LOST...

The 2009 and 2010 editions of ABC's "Lost" will be 17 hours each -- not 16 as previously planned, says The Hollywood Reporter.

ABC has added two hours to the show's production plan because the WGA strike knocked three hours out of the current season. To partly compensate, the network recently added an additional hour to Part 2 of the season finale that airs May 29.

We were supposed to do 16-16-16," "Lost" co-creator Damon Lindelof said. "But we ended up doing 14 this season, so we owe two

For the upcoming season finale, Lindelof promised a more action-driven cliffhanger instead of the mind-bending flash-forward time shift that stunned fans last season.

The finale this year will not be as tricky as last year," he said. "Hopefully, this year it's a little bit more of a straightforward action-adventure narrative. But the ending of the episode will hopefully engage and intrigue people looking forward to the next season of the show

Ugly Betty... just cancel it now...

And I too believe that Smallville will get a 9th season, even if EVERYONE, including Superman himself, leaves the show.

Wasn't Smallville supposed to be the so called early years and a prequel but in cannon???

When did the writers decide to scrap that idea and just make there own Superman universe?

When the CW got desperate for ratings and when Marvel Comics vetoed the (recently departed) exec producers' entire storyline plan for season 8. Warner gave Marvel veto power a couple of years back after the lawsuit. Marvel's just never used it until now. With Lionel, Lex, Lana, and (quite likely) Chloe gone next season things don't look promising. Welling is showing his age. He doesn't look "old," but he doesn't look like a college age kid anymore. How long can they put off him being Superman?

Supernatural lost steam after February sweeps and never got it back. It recorded a season high at 3.22 million for its last ep in February and scored a season high in the demo. The CW promptly took it off the air for six weeks and ran Reaper instead on Tuesdays and Thursdays. SPN's DVR numbers are good, but advertisers don't care about that.

Anyway you slice it Smallville is still the CW's highest rated scripted show. CW is so desperate (it just "sold" its Sunday programming prime time hours to recoup some cash) it'll take Smallville back for seasons 10, 11, and 12 if it performs. For the CW these days, the high 3 millions and low 4 millions are considered "performing." Even Top Model is dropping below 4 million. Supernatural, at 2.53 million, was the second highest scripted show of the week. That's what you call a network in dire straits.

Oops! My bad. It was DC. :o Anyway, whoever it was vetoed the whole season plotline. That's why whatshisname number one and whatshisname number two left. Man, if Allison Mack doesn't sign on again, I can't imagine what Smallville's going to be like next season.

I love Scrubs but that episode was a disaster. It seems like it was thrown together at the last minute after the writers strike. If the 8th season falls through I'm going to be really bummed that it ended on such a stupid note.

Re: TV Ratings (Friday 9th May)

Winners...
Numb3rs and Ghost Whisperer

Honorable Mention...
Smackdown

Not Worth Renewal...
Moonlight

Losers...
Everything else...Dam even with the so called winners FRIDAY NIGHTS SUCK

Quick Round-Up...

Moonlight has not done enough IMO to warrant a 2nd season and CBS made a huge mistake cancelling Close to Home with got more viewers and the same demo as Moonlight. However I guess CBS might give it a 2nd season to see if they can get more viewers which they won't.
