Very nice! I've played around with LDD and even designed some Trek stuff, but found it frustrating due to the need to make all the walls and stuff lock into the grid. It never occurred to me to put down flat tiles and then angle the walls however I wanted. :techman:

Awesome. I created a Starfleet starship bridge for one of the monthly art contests in this forum a few months back.

Yours is definitely better.

The software is still out there, but LEGO announced in January that no further software updates would be coming, and elements updates would only be "from time to time."
Yes that has been Lego groups statement. They however released a LDD Update just this October - which is great.
Maybe the outcry among LDDs fanbase made them reconsider.

By the way. Aside from working on the bridge I also made a type 6 shuttle:

OK, I've got to ask, what elements did you use for Worf's head and hair? I couldn't find that face with that skin tone in LDD, and the "color editor" is a joke. I'm guessing there's some advanced stuff you're doing to it on the side?

Not really advanced stuff. I am using LDD Extended mode:

There are more color options available, but parts and tiles are still standard (as of LDD).
You can have a look at the LXF file of "my" TNG crew: http://bricksafe.com/files/m2m/star-trek/Tng_crew.lxf

From left to right:
Picard, Riker, Troi, Worf, Dr. Crusher, La Forge, Data (with Spot the Cat), Wesley, Ensign Ro, Q, Guinan
In the file are also VOY and DS9 crews (and behing Worf a couple of other hair and head options).

Ah, I see what my problem is -- I created all my models in the regular mode, not the extended mode, and LDD will only open them in regular mode. So I guess I have to start over?

Just start a new file in extended mode and then either copy paste your old file or use the import function - the latter keeps your groupings intact (in case you used) while the former doesn't.

Ha! That headpiece for Geordi is awesome!

Now with the new curved tiles coming soon, I hope they also include options to "fill in" the curved versions so that stuff like the shuttlebay's markings can be made way more easy. They already have the quarter round tiles (mainly used for pizza slices) but I hope they will release outer curve pieces too. It is a good time to be a lego builder...
