The Tempest (DS9 #19)

Noddy

Captain
When looking up the entry for this book in Voyages of Imagination, I was faintly surprised to find out that Susan Wright adapted the plot from Shakespeare's The Tempest, with Worf apparently taking on the role of Prospero, and Keiko as Miranda. But that's all the entry for the book reveals. How exactly is Shakespeare's plot transplanted into the Trekverse? To be honest, before I heard of this, I didn't think Trek authors generally did this sort of thing.

^I haven't read the book in ages, but it's not a literal adaptation, just using the characters in a structurally or thematically similar way. There have been a lot of Trek episodes like that -- TNG's "A Matter of Perspective" was a take on Rashomon, DS9's "Profit and Loss" was based on Casablanca while "Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang" was an Ocean's Eleven pastiche, ENT's "Marauders" was a riff on The Seven Samurai, etc.
