As I understand it, SAFIRE's work is based not on the standard model, but electric universe/plasma cosmology. I wouldn't call it fringe, but it's definitely outside of the mainstream, much like Eric Lerner's work.
The current work is geared towards making a reactor to transmute radioactive elements in fracking water, safely.
