The Least Disliked Episode 2025 - TNG Final Rounds

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Here we have the winners and runners-up of each season - and now, it's time for the final rounds.

*RULES*

Give what you consider to be the worst/your least favourite episode ONE point, and briefly explain WHY. Be sure to copy and paste the list with your point added. When an episode reaches 4 points, it is eliminated. Then a NEW round begins (in this thread) with the numbers restored to 0. Vote ONCE per round. If 48 hours without a vote passes, the episode currently leading in points will be eliminated, and a new round will begin. And enjoy! :bolian:

It's clear to me, it's easy to see, that the least of these is Conspiracy. The ominous ending falls flat when we know that these aliens will never show up again.

None of the others feels like they took a 1-minute scene from a previous episode and then padded it out to be a full-length episode, using while inverting plot tropes from "Arena" on top, and using implausible mechanisms. It also spells out how the universal translator should be doing that sort of jumbled wordplay on a more regular basis. Besides, every time I hear "Shaka, when the walls fell" I keep thinking of "Land of the Lost". Even the story's ending is corny. My first vote is, IMHO anyway, the cheesiest of the bunch. DARMOK is my first vote.

I will also start with "Darmok." This story just never worked for me. Tamarian doesn't feel like a real, plausible language here (though Lower Decks eventually succeeded at that).

For this round. I choose Where No One Has Gone Before. It is in my opinion the weakest of the bunch, the plot is a bit too silly and not in the fun way and it all just boils down to Wesley being a Mary Sue.

"Where Silence is Lease" is okay, I don't hate the story, but I've never seen it on a best episodes list before and it definitely wouldn't have made mine. Part of the problem with it is that it's just random spooky weirdness designed to see how the characters react. The other part is that at the end Nagilum tells us what he's learned about humans, and it has nothing to do with the choices anyone made. It's just generic 'humans are barbaric etc.' stuff and it makes the whole thing seem kind of pointless.

Where No One Has Gone Before is my weak link here.

I wasn't keen on Wesley's story here.

Ray Hardgrit has summed up my feelings about "Where Silence Has Lease". I think the story is pretty ordinary really.

I also vote for "Where Silence Has Lease." It looked okay when it came out -- but compared to most of the previous season, what wouldn't? Compared to the great episodes, it's kinda meh.

A very strong list.

The only one I feel doesn't belong is "A Fistful of Datas". It's a fun episode, but compared to the rest, it's a weak one. It gets my vote.

Fistful of Datas isn't even close to the quality of some of these other episodes. Very little value other than Trek actors hamming it up.

Nine participants... so be it. We shall be the Fellowship of Voting.
Or not.

While "The Pegasus" is tempting because of its dumb retcon of Riker's age, it's a better story than many on this list.

Voting for "Where No One Has Gone Before" because my last rewatch, I got so bored I stopped watching.

I'm going to jump in here and vote for "Darmok" as well. It just doesn't work that well for me. I know it's supposed to be a beloved episode, but I rarely rewatch it. I just find it tedious in parts and the language of the Tamarians just doesn't work for me.
