I just watched this for the first time this morning and I really enjoyed it.
For those not familiar with it, it follows Vin Diesel as an immortal Witch Hunter dealing with evil Witches in modern day New York. It co-stars Michael Caine and Elijah Wood as Dolan 36 and Dolan 37, who are kind of a mashup of Buffyverse and Highlander Watchers, Rose Leslie as the good witch Chloe, and Olafur Darri Olafsson and Julie Engelbrecht as Belial and The Witch Queen.
Dielsel's Kaulder was originally part of a larger group of Witch Hunters, but he was cursed with immortality during a fight with the Witch Queen, and has now outlived all of the rest. The main plot of the movies sees him working with the Dolans and Chloe to try to prevent Belial from resurrecting the Witch Queen.
It wasn't anything amazing, but it was still a fun Urban Fantasy action movie. I really don't understand why it seemed to have gotten a bad reaction, I thought it was well done. It wasn't anything that deep, but I didn't get the impression it was meant to be.
I'm sad there probably won't be any more movies in the series, I would gladly watch more, Kaulder and the other survivors were cool characters, and the universe seemed interesting.
There were a lot of potentially massive changes made to the movie's world at the end
We already saw a bit of conflict between Chloe and the other witches who don't like her working with Kaulder, I could easily see that being played up in a sequel too.

with the Witches Council wiped out, Kaulder leaving the Axe & Cross, and Chloe's hints of worse things on the way. I would love to see if a sequel followed up on any of those things.
