I think Jacob set this in motion. I think this is his response to the loophole
I wondered about the possibility whether things would be reset and the final season would be about our heroes being "Lost" back at in the US and how they end up meeting up once again to solve one anothers' problems. I can't see them actually doing this though because it would still reset a heluva lot of development.Well it wouldnt make sense to reset everything with a season to go. What would be the point?? Maybe they are all blasted back into the present day

Terrific.
A bomb? Locke's body? Any guesses?
"You know what I mean!"
LOCKE IS GOING TO KILL THEM!?!?!?!?
OMG did he get resurrected as EVIL??
Ok I got it:
1) Smoke monster tells Ben to follow Locke
2) Locke is going to kill Jacob
3) At the beginning of the episode the guy says he's gonna find a loophole and kill Jacob
Hence...
OLD GUY IS THE SMOKE MONSTER!
The series is about SMOKEY VS JACOB!
Wild guess: Locke isn't Locke anymore. He's Jacob's buddy from the start of the episode.
Yeah, it's amazing how some of you can pick up on these things and connect the dots like that. Makes me realize that I'm not paying close enough attention.
And so here's the translation: “He who will protect us all.”
Aha. I knew it wouldn't take long.
