The Carmichael Show is a modern All in the Family

Every episode they accidentally pick on a hot question in America, social matter that bothers ordinary people, and then they argue about it out round table amongst the family for 20 minutes, until every one is frustrated and no one is happy.

David Alan Grier is as amusingly racist and opinionated as Archie Bunker ever was, and Loretta Devine is a delight as always, but the show is written by/about the noob playing their son, the titular character Jerrod Carmichael, who acting wise might be the weak link, but if everyone's words coming out of their faces is what's on his mind, we'll give him a pass.

Very funny, socially edgy, no swears or nudity, half way through season 2 currently.

(Gutbusting lines from last nights episode.)

Loretta Devine "You know why Jesus was so nice to everyone?? ...Because he knew people were trying to kill him."

David Alan Grier "And all of that still didn't help Jesus. Makes you wonder: Maybe could'a been nicer?"

Good show with good commentary in each episode. Makes you think.... those car commercials are darker than you think too. :)

It's what I like to call a thinking mans sit-com. As opposed to, say... Two Broke Girls. Which I have never watched but feel confident in saying no brain required.

Two broke girls continuously assaults you with many not that great jokes per minute. One liner and innuendo, after onliner one liner and innuendo, rapid fire. I like it personally, and if they are going to make 60 plus jokes over the course of 20 minutes, a couple of those jokes do tend to be good and land well.

(Why I am here... )

There was supposed to be an episode about Jarod (Carmichael) surviving a mass shooting, and then the family talks about why this happens and how afraid they are that this is now America, airing the same day as the Alexandria shooting happened a couple days ago.

The episode was pulled.

Not sure if it will ever air.

It is actually required that you have no brain when watching Two Broke Girls. An ex would watch it and Big Bang Theory and the saddest thing was Two Broke Girls was still funnier. But yeah, you need to shut your brain down and maybe have a few hard ciders before watching it.

Also if you wait for a time to show an episode of TV that doesn't deal with a mass shooting the episode will never air.

I just watched my first episode yesterday, dealign with porn. It was a little preachy but funny.

So of course it got canceled.

I think the porn episode was from either season one or two.

Glad to see the mass shooting episode did air, and it was good too.
