The Asylum has competition! The Black Knight Returns? Metal Man?

So by now everyone knows about The Asylum, the studio that makes cheap knockoffs of big studio movies (which sometimes is just about making their cover art look a lot like the legitimate version) and releasing them at around the same time to trick stupid people into thinking the movie sitting on a Blockbuster shelf starring C. Thomas Howell is the exact same thing currently in theaters starring Tom Cruise. Plus they try to make movies heavy on effects with absolutely no budget to actually do so, making things even worse.

Well now I present to you... Halcyon International Pictures! They even try to ride the coattails of video games!

The Black Knight Returns trailer

Are they meant to me more "spoofs" that just "total lazy ripoffs" like The Asylum pump out? Still look total shite though

Of those pics above I've neve heard of The 18 Year Old Virgin before.
Trailer- http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YMRY1HZtCQ8

Oh my god, I think my insides are boiling inside me. What the fuck is that?!?!
A. It looks pure refined awfulness
B. Looks like it was filmed with my dads video camera from the early 90s
C. They have to resort to putting tits and ass shots in the trailer
and most importantly D. What the hell kind of message is this making?
I can kind of see how the a 40 year old man as a Virgin can be mildly amusing for about 5 seconds (kinda like the film) but an 18 year old as a virgin? And a girl to boot? Is that so wrong?
Just horrendous

How could there actually be enough people who would confuse one movie with another for a company to make a profit by doing this? Of all my flaws, one of them is not a tendency to overestimate the American public; still, this seems over the top. Who buys a movie without looking at it closely enough to, you know, recognize it??

That's my question as well. How can someone be that stupid?

~ Watches tailers, and then starts twitching ~ Those crapfest make me want to take back every bad thing I've ever said about fanfilms and Sci-Fi Channel Originals....okay maybe not about Sci-Fi Channel Originals.

Think I've found their likely "Star Trek" (2009) rip off: StarQuest

I don't know how it happens, but it does and in large numbers. I could understand maybe grandparents who aren't up to date on media seeing Transmorphers and thinking that's what their grandchild meant by Transformers. But the stupid people who think the knockoff title on the shelf is WHAT'S CURRENTLY IN THEATERS baffle me. But then again, there are people who buy the shaky cam bootlegs off the street.

Having did the mandatory "starving writer" stint at Blockbuster, I can attest to older customers coming in a getting confused between the real deal and the knock-off; especially with sci-fi movies.

Though, I wonder how many grandkids corrects Grandma when she accidentally bought them the Joone Pirates instead of PotC.

Man. That's basically softcore porn.

These are the Sci-Fi Channel Originals. I'm pretty sure that most, if not all, of these "originals" aren't even made by Sci-Fi. They're just the first TV station to air them. Sci Fi airs a lot of The Asylum titles.

It's wrong to expect people to actually want to watch a movie about a hot, 18 year old girl who can't even give it away, certainly. :D

That's kind of the definition of an unsympathetic character.

I didn't realize Sci-Fi airs those Asylum videos. That could be where they really make their money, as opposed to the DVD rentals.

I suspect some also rent them to laugh at their shlockiness. Perhaps while stoned.

OH . . . MY . . . GOD! :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::lol: :lol: :lol:

Those trailers just made me laugh out loud, esp. the Metal Man one! What the hell was that fight scene outside a barn all about? Just too freaking funny!

"The next giant leap...just got complicted"

wooooooow, just when you thought it was the Asylum that was scraping the bottom of the barrel...

:eek:wow just wow! those dvd covers are such blatent rip-offs of the originals promo art/covers. How come they dont get their asses sued(especially by Disney)? :wtf:

/\Not to mention Fox, Paramount, and Warner Bros. How many kids would look at the cover of Metal Man and mistake it for Iron Man? That alone should give studios enough ammo to sue these companies. I rented Transmorphers from Netflix out of sheer curiosity, and it seemed like a high school production. I got through 20 minuted of it, and ejected it. Do they make a movie with the original intent on an idea of their own, then name it something to rip off another movie?
