Commodore
a high-profile adaption of ABC hit "Grey's Anatomy."

Like "Grey's," "A Corazón Abierto (An Open Heart)" is produced by an arm of Disney [a Disney Media Networks Latin America]. Airing first in Colombia, the show also chronicles the lives and loves of surgical residents in a big-city hospital.
will be set in San Antonio, rather than the original program's hometown of Seattle.
The new sets were designed to portray an authentic Colombian medical facility.
The new series, with an initial order of 80 episodes
airing at 7PM (start of that channel's primetime)
the story was modified to be aired 5 episodes a week in a telenovela format, that is why several changes have been made into the story.
the course of the story will basically be the same as the original version,
The network unveiled at the event an HD broadband video player developed through a partnership with MSN. The new video player will include English subtitles.

So I guess this show can be watched by English speakers reading subtitles.
Wow 80 episodes? that is like 4 years of Grey's Anatomy but in total soap opera form so maybe 5 episodes a week still = 1 year of the G.A. storyline... I wonder if they'll be using multicamera instead of single-camera style of production?

this is funny
(As for how to say in Spanish “McDreamy,” the nickname for the “Grey’s Anatomy” character played by Patrick Dempsey, Peter Blacker, executive vice president for digital media and emerging businesses at Telemundo, suggested “El Guapaton,” or, loosely translated, “the hottie.”)

Grey's is a soap opera so telenovella makes sense.

The only thing that is confusing is if the show takes place in San Antonio, why are they trying to make it look like an authentic Colombian hospital? Shouldn't it be set in Colombia then?

trailer & premiere info

The hit series Grey's Anatomy recently premiered to Spanish-speaking audiences. The pilot episode
of La Corazon Abierto, which means “The Open Heart,” recently premiered to Columbian audiences. It was well received, taking in half of all television viewing audience for the evening.
They had to make some modifications because Columbia’s health care system is different from the in the US
