Survivor 46 / The Amazing Race 36 (2024)

Well, that vote went about how I expected. As soon as I saw the pre-show interview with this individual, I figured he would be an early vote-out.

Thank goodness.

My biggest fear - and something that might've made me rage-quit after only one episode - was that Yanu wasn't going to make the correct decision and get rid of Jelinksy for his gross incompetence, arrogant attitude, and total buffoonery, but they thankfully used their brains and got rid of him.

I've never rage-quit any Survivor season. I have quit Big Brother Canada (which starts next week) because the people cast were either artificial model-types or country hicks.

I forgot it was starting last week so I'm watching the first episode now. Hard to tell who are the favorites but a few obvious bad players.

There's a YT channel that reviews the episodes, and I realized that there are so many contestants whose names I don't know, and it's too soon to even begin to care.

I will say that right now there are a few I don't like.

Charlie seems likeable. So that means, with my lousy record of picking winners, he won't have a chance.

I'm not sure I've picked a winner successfully since Rob. It's so hard to predict now since the obvious favorites get called out and voted out now.

I wouldn't count Yanu out just yet. I just remember when Denise's tribe lost the first four immunity challenges and then Denise won. But I don't see Q winning, too domineering. Tiffany on the other hand I think has a shot.

And clearly nobody on the tribe is a Star Trek nerd because I would not be able to resist making Q jokes.

I'm getting toward the end of Traitors season 1, and the last few episodes are disappointing me.

The first couple episodes, I liked the game. It's Werewolf, it's Among Us, it's a cool game. But they need X episodes, and those games have no guaranteed number of votes. So of course, they manipulate it. With 8 people left and 2 traitors left, they let the traitors recruit someone new. Arbitrarily they take murders away from the traitors. They manipulate the outcome way too much to make it so the final decision in the last episode is important. I'll finish this season but if they're manipulating it this much I don't think I'll watch any others.

Like, I just watched an episode where there are 3 traitors (Because they arbitrarily let the traitors add another), and a vote just left 7 players left in the game. If the traitors get to murder anyone tonight, the game is over. So I'm going out on a limb, they will not let the traitors murder anyone tonight.

This game is way too manipulated.

I literally have no idea what that show is about. I'm not even sure it's available here.

It’s on Peacock. Cirie and Stephanie from Survivor and Rachel and Cody from BB are in it.

It seemed fun at first but now it seems super obvious no matter what happens they will manipulate it to come down to the last vote.

The premise is simple. It’s werewolf/Among Us. Only the game is super obviously not honest.

Ah, okay. We don't get Peacock here, or at least it's not something I've heard of. I just have basic cable - I had to make some economy decisions recently, so the a la carte channels had to go. That means no more Star Trek and no more BBC Earth (I miss BBC Earth; there was a Brian Cox astronomy documentary on tonight that I couldn't watch).

werewolf/Among Us
No clue at all what that is.

Werewolf is a classic game, also called assassin, where one or more people are secretly assigned as murderers, and every round, the werewolves kill someone, then everyone votes out who they think is a werewolf, repeating this pattern until either all the werewolves are out or there are more werewolves than villagers.

Among Us is a computer game version that was popular during Covid lockdown.

Can anyone else not stand Bhanu anymore? One of those people who uses the 'I'm such a good guy' thing to excuse being obnoxiously self righteous about being bad at strategy.

I'm watching the Amazing Race premiere now.

No standout positive or negative people yet but just want to take a moment to laugh at the people who did an 83 POINT TURN because they forgot cars can go in reverse.

Honestly, while I realize things get emotional out there, I'm so over the man-crybaby players. And the ones who go into "thankyoujesus/god" mode, particularly when they get saved because something bad happened to somebody else.

I honestly don't like anyone on that team.

Well, maybe Q is okay. He hasn't acted offensively that I can recall. Kenzie has to go, though.

Do the rules say they can't ask for help from locals if they have car trouble?

It was an interesting episode. I learned that there's much more to that place than just a stop for cruise ships.

So far nobody has especially impressed me, or disgusted me or shown themselves to be particularly stupid other than the team that was last anyway.

Oh, that whole double-dutch skipping thing? It was popular at the elementary school I went to in the 1970s. I never learned it myself (could barely manage regular skipping). But in order to fit in, I did learn how to turn the ropes, and the others didn't mind me being a "steady-ender" since it meant they'd get extra turns at skipping.

I don’t have a problem with anyone else on Yanu but Kenzie’s making her game too obvious to get that far. Tiffany I think is one of the favorites to win.

Tiffany has made such an impression on me that I can't remember which one she is. It's still early to worry about names and faces matching.
