Spoilers Supergirl - Season 5

Since most of the talk in the season 4 thread is now about season 5, and there's bound to be more news and even maybe a short teaser trailer for the upcoming season at today's SDCC panel I'd say it's time for a new thread.

To recap the news from the last few days: there's a new suit, Winn will be back for a few episodes, James will be leaving in the first half of the season, and Eve and Kelly are promoted to season regulars.

I do love that Supergirl gave Lex a power suit. (I know it's been seen before)

Julie Gonzalo and Staz Nair (new series regulars)

Gonzalo is playing DC Comics character Andrea Rojas (aka Acrata), “a polished businesswoman and heir to a Central American tech empire [who is] now making a hostile advance into the world of media. Unapologetic and unafraid to make waves, she also holds a mystical secret.” As revealed on the panel, Andrea will take over as the head of CatCo — which makes sense, considering James is on his way out.

Nair will play as “hardened reporter William Dey, an original character created for the series. On the surface, he’s a cynic and a sellout who looks down on Kara’s earnest idealism. Dey’s not interested in making friends, he just wants to get the story — but his ties to the criminal underworld could prove problematic.”

Her new costume looks fantastic!

It's an okay variant, but the original was one of the most perfect superhero costumes I've ever seen in live action. I don't like it that they're adopting the weird cape-buckle shoulder things from Earth-38 Superman's costume.

Me neither, and the high boots and her hair looks bad, but for the rest it looks great

The hair looks okay, and the boots don't look very different from the previous version.

I never liked the boots and hoped they would shorter them, not that it's that big a deal

One of the reasons given was because Vancouver can get really freakin cold when shooting.

It could do with a bit more colour, but it looks a lot better there than it did in first picture we go.

Not a fan of the drab suit; her original costume was superior to this, but I do like the new, more mature hair style. Hopefully, it mirrors the character's journey in the season.

I have to say that it's disappointing that the writers are apparently turning Lena into "just another Luthor" for the most shallow of reasons.

Watch the Season Trailer; she's already fully at odds with Kara, at least based on what we were shown, in the very first episode (since that is the only episode they have filmed thus far), which is disappointing to me.

^ I've watched it. That's why it's a "battle." Lena will go to a darker and more antagonistic place for a while, but she's not going to become Lex, and she'll eventually be brought back into the fold. Just my prediction. I think they've invested too much time and care into the character, and worked too hard to establish her dynamic with Kara, to throw it all away.

Okey-doke. Me, I think they can get some interesting character play out if it. And I laughed out loud when she slugged Kara in the face in the trailer.
