Do we have a topic for this, yet?

Here's a recent interview with SNW Costume Designer Bernadette Croft.

Bernadette Croft - THE FIELD JACKET: Inspired by the landing party jackets in “The Cage”. We went for a classic 1960’s inspired bomber jacket using custom gunmetal delta print and foiled neoprene trim.

T'Pring has a ring based on the one worn by the character in "Amok Time" - it's featured rather prominently in a shot in "Spock Amok," IIRC:

My favorite part of the command uniform.

The rank, as well as the raised division detail on the shoulders and arms of the outfits, is evidently HD screen printing of the sort used in the uniforms worn by the crew of the Discovery, and is fairly common detail in movie costuming for superheroes these days. So the stripes/lace aren't sewn or glued to the sleeves. The rank is printed on the cuffs before assembly.

Heh...

While I like the Starflet uniforms in SNW, I still like the originals from the original TOS pilot as well, especially that wraparound field jacket.

Ooh! I wanted to start this topic but thought it was too forward of someone so new to the forum. There's an interview with her in Forbes where she talks about the inspirations of modern couture designers (like Alexander McQueen) and artists. Also gives props to the person who does their digital designs (those silicon microsymbols on the sleeves). Not sure if I'm allowed to link it though.

Yeah the originals from The Cage were really nice. They fut well and the jackets were really cool. The SNWs are nice but needed to be a little shorter at the waist. Also the black undershirt holdover from 2009 Star Trek was a bit obvious. I would have preferred a accordian collar like from Where No Man Has Gone Before or just a plain stitched collar without the black t-shirt.
