"Calling Zebra Three. Get back to headquarters and see the man about getting a new undercover vehicle that can't be seen from space, over and out."

STARSKY AND HUTCH

The hit cop show that ran on the ABC network from 1975-1979 and starred Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul as undercover detectives fighting crime on the mean streets of "Bay City" California. Their signature car was portrayed by Gran Torinos made from 1974, '75 and '76.

Back in the late 70s, I had a paper route after school. Someone in "my" neighborhood painted a Gran Torino like the one from the show. I must admit, it made my heart skip a beat whenever I'd see it parked on the street. Cool but impractical as a low-profile, undercover vehicle. :mallory:

This was one of my favorite Matchbox cars back in the olden days of my youth. i think I played with it so hard I broke the little gumball light at the top.

Voting 'meh' as didn't really see Starsky and Hutch growing up and only really saw it with the movie (don't judge me).

Plus as a car fanatic, was never really a fan of the Torino.

One of my favorite cop shows, and one of my favorite TV cars.
They weren't really undercover cops, btw, just plain clothes detectives.
Paul Michael Glazer said the car was horrible to drive, and he hated the damn thing.

Ah, great car and great show (except for the fourth season, of course). I was in junior high when it came on the air and it gave me a bit of cool because my nickname was "Hutch." I more closely resembled Starsky, though. In later years, my cars would more closely resemble Hutch's. :rommie:

I've always liked the show, but feel pretty "meh" about the car. I've always thought it would have looked better in blue than red.
