"Faced with the decision to destroy the Infinity demanded by Starfleet authorities, Dal and his comrades decide to take it before its destruction to save Chakotay. To avoid attracting attention, they decided to create holographic duplicates of themselves who would remain on site while the real ones fulfilled this mission." - Cygnus-X1.Net

It was decent, but not my favorite episode of the season. This one felt like the more "Kid Friendly" episode of the season, which Season 1 had a few. I do appreciate that now the Kids are on the Infinity and continuing the mission though. After the first 5, this one felt like a breather.

This is how you create "Holographic Decoys".

Now mix them with a clone of "The Doctor's" Portable Emitter and you can literally create clones of yourself on the battlefield.

Imagine if you suddenly split into multiple duplicates of yourself, all firing phasers at the enemy, how useful would that be =D.

I love how Star Trek will create sapient holos 100% convinced they're real people one minute, then treat them like throwaway nothings the next. Jankom not being sure if he was the real Jankom was a little bit terrifying... because the holo would have felt exactly the same.

Fun episode though. Loved that everyone defaulted to fighting except for the Roks, who sensibly teamed up and worked out a solution.

I just don't see how the holo disguise could work. It's a bit far fetched but I suppose it's fine for a children's show.

This is where I am at. And the Voyager crew not noticing them with each other's voices.

OK, but not my favorite.

Not telling Janeway they know where Chakotay is?

That was fun. I like how the simulations they created were so realistic that the real crew couldn't tell who was real.

I’m picturing some engineer getting into a certain anime and shouting, “Shadow Clone Jutsu” as they engage such a program.

Are you sure you want that, you know how bad Neelix is as a cook, right?

"The Shadow Clone Jutsu" concept is a good idea, shouting it out in the middle of a battle field is silly & campy.
They'll just press a button while hiding behind cover, and suddenly multiple copies of the same person will pop out of the cover and confuse the eff out of the enemy as to which one is real.

Imagine somebody goes behind a giant rock, than 3x people pop out from behind the rock (one to the left, one to the right, one from above).

All of them being the "Exact Same Person". You got to admit, that would confuse just about anybody fighting them.

All of the Holographic Clones are "Shooting" back as well.

Oh, I know it’s campy, but imagine an engineer figuring it out for the first time and wanting to be just a tad silly. “I am the number one engineer! Believe it!”

That's cutting too deep into Naruto as a reference, we don't need to go that deep, too many Trekkies wouldn't get it. =D

I did wonder why the Doctor wears his mobile emitter at all times if the Voyager-A apparently has holo emitters on every deck. But I guess it's just in case he has to leave the ship on short notice (also: it doesn't matter!)

I agree that it was probably the more "kid-friendly" episode but still a lot of fun and I loved the Roks teaming up.

Fun episode, yet also important for the overall plot. I loved how they make use of certain apparently throwaway elements of earlier episodes, like the Doctor's holonovel. Jankom's crisis was funny, as was the Doctor and his antics.

Did anyone make out who were the holograms throughout the episode? They were a few glitches at times, and I think the holograms used the phrase "this is not over" for some reason, the real Jankom was also clear at the end because of his surprise (so he "lost" the repair challenge and had the existential crisis) but I have no idea if the Gwyn luring Dal or the Gwyn using the extinguisher were the real one. At the end, it seemed like both sets had both holos and originals in them, anyway.
