Wow, is this all they're doing for it this year?

How dare they try to inspire altruism?!

Star Trek is all about me watching a TV show and doing nothing else!

I wouldn't be surprised if we still got trailers or something on the day, but yeah no special event like the last couple years.

To be fair Star Trek Day does fall on the opening Sunday of the NFL season in the US so the battle for eyeballs will be real.

I do think it’s funny they are going with The Cage over WNMHGB for the “free pilots” thing.

I'm not. Captain Pike is the lead character on SNW; so what better way to promote SNW?

Plus TOS The Cage is the original Pilot episode of TOS.

Was hoping something more than those episodes. Most of us would already have those episodes in out collections, depending on what format we choose to watch trek.

At least they included Prodigy in that teaser. They ignored it last year.
Last year it was still costing Paramount money to finish.

Now that they've sold it to Netflix, IF Netflix renews it for a 3rd season, it does nothing but MAKE Paramount money as Netflix still has to license it, and Netflix then pays for the production of Season 3.

but you are already getting Pike in the SNW pilot. WNMHGB introduces Kirk, Scotty and Sulu. Plus it wasn’t the “failed” pilot.

Honestly I don’t care since I won’t be watching, I just think it’s a funny choice.

Considering we now have a Christopher Pike Star Trek series, I wouldn't call TOS The Cage a failed pilot per se. It may have taken 55 or so years, but yeah it seems a studio saw what was made and decided to make a show with the main characters of that pilot episode. ;)

I’m just surprised the Shatner erasure/truthers haven’t latched onto it. lol.

Canadian sci-fi author Robert J Sawyer has always insisted it was the 7th. Even claims to remember watching it for the first time on the 7th.
