Thanks for this! I never got a chance to play this game. I think I remember seeing a promo for it on my old First Contact VHS tape when I was a kid. So I can't comment on how the remaster looks compared to the original, but to my fresh eyes this looks pretty great.
The game itself was a pretty amusing diversion. John de Lancie was his usual magnificent self as Q (even though I found myself wondering why Q was bothering with this random cadet) and the other actors all did a pretty fine job. It was cool to see some familiar background faces getting a chance to play major crewmembers for a change. I enjoyed the friendship between Sprint, Furlong and Targus, and the banter between Q (posing as the ship's doctor) and Counselor Biraka.
The production values seemed pretty solid to me for an FMV game made in the '90s. And it was nice that the whole thing was written and directed by Trek alumni, with an original score composed by Dennis McCarthy; it really helped make the whole thing feel like it existed in the same world as the shows. It was also fun intentionally making different choices even if they were obviously incorrect, just to see all the different possible outcomes. (And I'm sure I still missed some.)
I did have a technical issue involving the turbolift controls, but from what I've been able to gather, that seems to be an issue common to the game itself, not to this remaster. I do recommend going into the Settings and adjusting the picture quality if you get a lot of buffering; it seems to default to 4K.
Now to wait patiently for a Star Trek: Klingon remaster...
