Special Features on TNG Blu Ray?

My wish list would be:

-Deleted scenes (if available). Either as a stand alone extra or inserted back in the episode (with the option of watching either the extended or originally aired version). I'm sure there will be deleted scenes found as they re-edit the show. There would never be a better be opportunity to include these scenes as they are already putting in the time and money to sift through the original film elements. (Unless they only kept the filmed elements destined for the final video edit)

-audio/video commentaries On various episodes by technical staff and/or actors from the show.

-Production featurettes
New behind the scenes featurettes + Classic DVD special features upconverted to Blu Ray. This way we can part ways from our old DVDs altogether

Enterprise D 3D interactive model

Along the same lines as that TOS Blu ray feature but much more interactive and detailed. A fully interactive and fully mapped out 3d model of the Enterprise D both exterior and interior would be beyond cool.

Other extras: Bloopers, Episode trailers, Reading Rainbow TNG behind the scenes show.

Allot of fans are on the fence about double dipping to blu ray or buying a HDTV. Some are also disappointed it will not be a full out CGI remaster. Beefing up the special features (deleted scenes being the big one) I think will go a long way to sway those people in making the purchase and thus the sales will be more profitable for the studio aswell.

Any other ideas on extras?

Adding the episode trailers would probably be easy enough. And I do hope they port *all* of the special features from the DVDs, including all the Easter Eggs.

Beyond that, some commentaries would be nice. I'm not expecting a lot of special features, though. But I'd love to be proven wrong (wouldn't it be great if these could match the Blu-Ray features of The Twilight Zone?).

The episode trailers are the only extra that would entice me to double-dip. Oh, actually, extensive amounts of deleted scenes would entice me as well. Otherwise I will not purchase the Blu-Ray sets.

I think that's going to be a stretch given the capabilities of most Blu-ray players. An interactive version of the detailed plans that were printed on the labels of the region 2 DVDs would be more achievable, I believe. Like the DVDs, you would only get a portion of the plans with each season's release.

Deleted scenes and bloopers in HD would be nice. But I guess they'd just take the original video master for those and upconvert them.

Are there easter eggs in the TNG sets?

I know that DS9 and VOY have them. Nothing springs to mind from TNG.

The episode video masters contain nothing more than what we've seen in the completed episodes. Are you talking about masters of old blooper tapes that the producers may have made for the cast and crew?

I thought so, but without the sets on hand, I may simply be remembering incorrectly.

There are no video masters of TNG episodes. To create the HD version they need to go and rescan the filmed negatives. While rescanning the negatives they may scan some outtakes. They may also limit the rescan to the shots they need. It depends how accurate the original records were and if it's easier to scan part of a reel or the whole thing.

I had a special features wishlist thread specifically for the Blu-ray sampler disc:
special features for 4 episode TNG-R BLURAY disc

For the complete seasons:
audio commentaries on every episode. sometimes 2 with above the line creative people and also separate one with cast. These are really what I want. Mostly the creative above the line ones. Less of the producer commentaries thought.

documentaries mining Entertainment Tonight behind-the-scenes archive footage from on the set.

-Deleted scenes even in standard definition from 3/4" analog videotape.

90 minute documentary retrospective including interviews with editors, directors, music composers, the original visual effects people

vintage on the set walkthroughs from Paramount & Entertainment Tonight's archives

3 Okuda text commentaries per season.

They should also include the special features that were only available in the Best Buy Bonus Discs here in the US

While cast commentaries might sound like a nice feature, how many of them will be able to remember any details about the recording of episodes from nearly 25 years ago? I expect that such chat will be sparse, mundane, and repetitive even if they can get the actors to turn up in the same room in California for what is usually very little or no fee.

I'd prefer writer or director commentaries, to be honest. Or, if that's not an option, the kind of commentaries by critics that appear on (for example) the Blu-Rays for The Twilight Zone.

I agree, and even Uberfan or MST3K-style commentaries would probably be preferable to a bunch of luvvie reminiscences. There's also Jammer, who has been reviewing the episodes over the last few years.

How about if every episode includes a commentary track by Rick Berman, the entirety of which is "We were all very pleased with (insert epsode title)?"
