Spoilers (Somewhat minor spoilers) Guys, Lower Decks has NOT decanonized Discovery. Or SNW.

I know what you're hearing on YouTube, from guys like Overlord DVD, Midnight's Edge, et cetera. They're telling you DSC (and by proxy SNW) is no longer canon. This is because of a scene in the Lower Decks finale where a Klingon B'rel BoP and its TNG-era crew transforms into their DSC-era counterparts due to the rift.

They're most likely wrong, and DSC is still canon. Lower Decks hasn't decanonized anything, especially with the SNW crossover a while back where Boimler and Mariner mat the SNW crew. Think about it. If their reasoning is that Lower Decks alternate timelines decanonize DSC, then by that logic, the episode prior to that one means that DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise are no longer canon, since we see alternates of T'Pol (ENT), Garak (DS9), and Harry Kim (VOY) are part of the Anaximander's crew, and their presence decanonizes these shows.

Even if Discovery was a different universe, it would still be canon.

People keep abusing that poor word.

The Kelvin Timeline is canon, the mirror universe is canon etc
For them, only Prime Canon matters.

And they have DSC and others under an electron microscope for anything inconsistent with the shows that came before it.

Even when, in the words of CGP Grey, Star Trek is nothing if not consistently inconsistent.

Well, I really feel more comfortable with the idea that Discovery occupy its own universe.
I like the idea to have the Starbase 80 as an "stargate" to other universes ...kind of thing.
That is a clever move, there are so much space to play there.

Yet somehow you can pick up DISCO and SNW uniforms on Starbase 80

And travel to SNW 2250s and not notice the difference

Uniform Variations are literally a "Dime a Dozen".
They create one for nearly every show.

The only thing it proves is that there are more Uniform Styles put into service than what would realistically happen in most military services.

The vast majority of services don't change uniforms nearly as often unless there was something horribly wrong with it.

Both shows are cancelled, who cares?

Toe the line. If you're gonna use an insult, get it right.

Your head canon fantasies don't make you a rebel standing up to "The Man." Its rather silly to cast yourself in such a role in regards to a piece of fiction.
I'm just using the evidence given to me by the shows.

It doesn't break previous continuity, and is a logical explanation.

But you don't care for continuity contradictions, so you'll agree with whatever Paramount tells you.

You say that like its a bad thing. They're the guys creating the thing. Your "interpretations" are irrelevant. It's a fun mind exercise, but that's about it.
