A statement released and signed by many artists who have worked in star trek have come out and said they are against trump. the official statement reads

“Star Trek has always offered a positive vision of the future, a vision of hope and optimism, and most importantly, a vision of inclusion, where people of all races are accorded equal respect and dignity, where individual beliefs and lifestyles are respected so long as they pose no threat to others. We cannot turn our backs on what is happening in the upcoming election. Never has there been a presidential candidate who stands in such complete opposition to the ideals of the Star Trek universe as Donald Trump. His election would take this country backward, perhaps disastrously. We need to elect a president who will move this country forward into the kind of future we all dream of: where personal differences are understood and accepted, where science overrules superstition, where people work together instead of against each other''.

Geez I don't know how to feel about this. should celebrities be telling us who to vote for.Trek has fans from every works of life, and that includes people of various political beliefs. It should never force a particular political mindset in this manner in my own humble opinion.

While this is Trek-related, discussion of politics really belongs in Miscellaneous or The Neutral Zone. Moving to the former.

This post is about as far off the mark as you can get, it's almost funny.

Firstly, have you actually seen Star Trek? It has been doing this since day one, it's a political show.

Secondly, your use of the word "force" is ridiculous, unless you are so weak minded as to have no choice but to adopt the mindset of celebrities when they opine. I'll have to assume that is the case, you have my pity.

I'll reiterate what I said in the football thread: all art is political, so people who think "get your politics out of my Star Trek" aren't really paying attention.

Actors and other celebrities, like anyone else, have every right to express political views, too. Nobody is forced to listen to them or follow their lead, though.

I dont like Trump either, but say "ALL TREKKERS HATES TRUMP" I think is go too far.
Star Trek is a collective of several people, opinions and choices, lets embrace the diference.
Not to do that, is not to know and not respect the spirit that has make great to Star Trek.

Wow, what a shock. They're all liberals...

I can understand the anti-Trump sentiment but I'll never get the pro-Hillary sentiment. They are both awful, awful candidates.

I honestly think celebrity endorsements are a detriment to the candidates they endorse. Star Trek already has an aging and declining fanbase without them pissing off a couple more people.

Amen to that. Another reason not to see or buy JJ's crap Star Trek movies. Liberals endorsing Hillary I am totally shocked!

What is there to "embrace" in Trump besides racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, misogyny, and corruption?
But all of that is just election year political rhetoric, it's not like Trump is actually any of those things.

If Trump were the democratic canidate, every liberal in the country would be singing his praises.

It the same in every election, just talk.

Some imaginary hypothetical democrats from that alternate-universe version of America have just contacted me, and they told me you're spinning some Grade-A Bullshit there.

And since my imaginary hypothetical people outnumber yours (as well as being better, stronger, faster, and possess the genetic ability to always be right), you must be the one that's wrong. The imaginary hypothetical alternate-universe Dems hath doth spoken.

I like this way of arguing. Makes things so simple. :p

If Trump is being embraced by racists, xenophobes, Islamophobes, and misogynists, they must see something in him that they like,

Yeah but I think it's safe to say every person on that list is a Hollywood liberal.

Clint Howard, Clint Eastwood, Gary Graham (Star Trek Actor), Jerry Bruckhiemer, Kelsey Grammar, Dwight Shultz, Dirk Bennedict, Robert Downie jr, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinz Jr, Patricia Heaton, James Caan, Rick Shroder, Bruce Boxliner, Tracey Scoggins, Arnold Swartzeneggar, Tim Allan all wave hi from the GOP side of the fence for starters.
