It's life, but not as we know it! You all know the trope, from Star Trek and elsewhere, where alien characters are created by gluing a few pieces of latex to a performer's head or face, or by covering them with face paint.
This is not their contest.
Our theme this week is the more "alien-looking" alien characters in science fiction. Your entry can depict any alien character from film, television, comics or videogames, as long as it has a more "extensive" look than just a few pieces of latex, or some paint. Note that your character can still be played by a human performer (I don't want to limit it to just CGI/puppetry/animated/etc), but any such character should have a more elaborate appliance, or a full body suit, or something that makes the look a little more deviated from the human baseline. To put it in Star Trek terms, something like an Andorian wouldn't count, because it's generally just some antenna, a wig, and some blue paint. But a Kelpien would be OK because of the more extensive full-head appliance.
And of course aliens not "played" by a human are OK too: CGI, puppetry, animatronic, animated, etc... as long as they follow the rule that they are sufficiently different from a human. (Eg - an Andorian or Orion wouldn't suddenly become acceptable if they were animated instead of live action.)
To open up the field even more, fantastical characters from fantasy film/TV/etc are also OK, even if they're not strictly "alien". They should again be significantly different from the human baseline, and should also be an actual sentient being, not just an animal or mindless creature.
(Please feel free to use the characters in the green checkmarked examples above, if you'd like. They are not entries, and are just included for illustrative purposes.)
Standard avatar contest rules apply: images must be no larger than 200 x 200 pixels and 1 MB, and must be SFW. Each entrant may submit up to three entries. Please identify the character in your entry, and where they are from. The contest will be open for about a week or so.
For my first entry... don't laugh, but I've always had a soft spot for the OG Gorn. I know it's considered "cheesy" these days, but I don't care!
Gorn captain, Star Trek: "Arena"
(The designs are sufficiently different that if anyone wants to enter a Gorn from one of the later series, please feel free.)
Have fun!
