No, it's not a Halloween III remake. :p

14th-century knights transport a suspected witch to a monastery, where monks deduce her powers could be the source of the Black Plague.

Directed by Dominic Sena (Whiteout, Swordfish, Gone in 60 Seconds, Kalifornia). Co-starring Christopher Lee and Stephen Campbell Moore.

Never even heard of this movie before until the trailer. The movie looks like it could go either way.

However that pic makes it seem like it will go far far south.

Nicolas Cage is hit or miss, Ron Perlman and Christopher Lee are great in everything they are in (but everything they are in is not great). As for the director, Kalifornia is a great, underappreciated movie. Whiteout, Swordfish, and Gone in 60 Seconds are all best forgotten.

Based on that, I'm guessing this one is a miss, though who knows. It could surprise us.

I remember when plans for this one were first announced, because the Sean Bean medieval horror movie Black Death was around at the same time. It seemed this big Nic Cage vehicle would be death for Black Death, but that show has found a nice audience and some acclaim, and I completely forgot about this one! Strange, though because I think Black Death is also having its US release in January after the festival circuit last year. Odd that they still seem to be in competition. Hmph.

I saw the trailer for this movie months ago probably back when it was still slated for later this year (which would have been appropriate given the witch/Halloween vibes). I guess it was only until recently pushed back to January 2011.

Damn it, I was hoping this WAS a remake of Halloween III. It wasn't a bad movie!

The music from Halloween III haunts me to this day. I was watching horror movies from the first grade and never got freaked out by Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc...

That music for Halloween III though... freaked me the hell out

Hopefully this movie will inspire a youtube video worthy of the Wicker Man recap.

I refuse to watch that movie again because I had that damn jingle in my head for years and I don't ever want that to happen again.
