I’ve been rewatching in prep.

Season 4 still the worst season. I wish they kept Chapman as a standin for rich people realizing their problems are mild compared to other inmates. Having her start a panty business because it’s fun playing gangster is easily the worst story of the series.
 
The problem with rewatches... I don't think I can take losing Poussey all over again. :wah:

Looking at the season 7 photos of Red reminds me that someone out there really does consider continuity when applying her makeup. The scar on her right cheek from that "lock in a sock" attack at the end of season 2 is smaller but still quite noticeable.

I’m through season 5. I’ll probably buy Netfix for July so I can watch 6 and 7.

I am guessing it was the binge watching, but these 7 years flew leaving me feel deprived. I have a daughter the age of the series and to look at her reminds me, yup, been 7 years already.
 
I feel like it's been 7 seasons but 7 years ?!! :crazy:

Pretty sure there's stuff I've been procrastinating for the entire length of OITNB.

But that will be okay if Kate Mulgrew has a cameo or even an entire episode on the new Picard series as Admiral Janeway because she now has free time :techman:
 
One thing I will say for season 4, it is really effective in making its point about the evil of private prisons.

I have trouble with the way the show redeems Doggit though when we know she's a murderer. One successful, one attempt. And not someone who arguably had it coming like Claudette's victim.

I hope they take enough time to close some of the minor characters stories in season 7. One thing I mentioned in the TV & Media thread I created, if they do go the predictable route of having Piper write Orange Is The New Black, they could use it as an excuse to have her go interview her old friends in the other prison.

They could have fun with that route, having Piper write the book the series is based on. "Hey, you left out the part about the illegal panty business! And all the lesbianism! And you're way kinder to 'Barry', who is obviously Larry. You have him really sticking by you! And in your book Vause isn’t even in the same prison!”

Going more into the Doggit thing, all the other characters who are used as protagonists are people who either didn’t kill anyone, accidentally killed someone, or in the Claudette case, killed a rapist. Doggit is the only character who committed a murder of an innocent person in cold blood and is still placed in a sympathetic position in storylines after season 1.

I don’t know how the writers expect us to sympathize with her much compared to the characters who are in for fraud and minor drug crimes.

I guess TPTB are asking you not to judge her too quickly unless you lived the life she lived. In a sense, not only didn't she "know better" from a social standpoint, her chemically addled brain couldn't even begin to process an appropriate response to the nurse's insult.

As for everyone else's crime being less terrible than Tiffany's or justified because the victim was evil, perhaps you forgot about Norma?

Also we shouldn't forget how a stoned Marijuana farmer AKA Yoga Jones shot and killed a kid she mistook for a deer.

Then again, the sisters we met in season 6 were even worse re an innocent victim and unrepentant killers.

Yeah, I forgot Norma, but she'd be in the 'Revenge' category with Claudette. I didn't forget Jones, that's why I mentioned accidents. Also it's unclear if Warren's playmate survived the fall. And of course, Diaz and Kukudio partnered to kill the psychopath guard torturing their friends.

I don't care how drug addled you are, if you haven't learned murder is bad you deserve what you get.

And the people like Vee and the Sisters committed worse murders, but they have never been protagonists.
 
What happened to Watson after season 3, was she just written out? Anyone else disappear at some point I'm forgetting about?

Or was she there but just not hanging with the Taystee friend group anymore?
 
Yeah, but it's not clear how high up the fire escape was. If it was like ten floors up, sure. If it was more like three floors he could have just been horribly injured.

And of course it's heavily implied Frida has killed people, but I guess she's not really a protagonist except for a few moments in season five.

Maybe I wasn't noticing Watson because she gets less visible in Taystee's circle when the Muslim woman joins.
