The idea for this contest came to me yesterday, after watching the national news broadcasts. :vulcan:

The theme is Evil Leaders in Science Fiction and Fantasy--truly evil people (definitely evil, not just incompetent) in charge/in command of a group of people, evil people with followers, evil people placed in positions of power, evil leaders who are worshiped by other beings. Some examples: King Joffrey or Queen Cersei from Game of Thrones, General Zod from Superman, Ming the Merciless from Flash Gordon, Servalan from Blake's 7, President Snow from Hunger Games, Nazis from....well, anything. Basically, any truly evil leader in some genre TV show or movie. You may enter up to 2 avatars.

Standard av size limits: 200 x 200 pixels max, and 1 MB max. Work/Google safe.

Here's mine, going for the obvious:
Darth Vader

Sauron and Melkor in the books. There's nothing redeeming about them. Oh sure Annatar might be pretty to look at, but that's it.

Melkor has an inane desire to usurp god and shape reality to his will, and knows he never can and it drives him to near-madness.

Sauron follows Melkor out of a desire to shape and then revenge, revenge against the elves who beat him twice or so and then against men after Numenor, falsely surrenders after being beaten and subverts their whole society to attack Valinor and drowns with the island, probably smiling all the while.

Petty, powerful, proud, but ultimately doomed to fail in the extreme, only warping what they can to fir their ends. Even Sauron turned from Melkor when he was finally alone, though maybe this was out of conviction Melkor was finally gone and there might be only a string of love there in their whole power.

OK.... but this is an avatar contest. Do you have an av to enter? Also, if you'd read the original post, it's about sci-fi and fantasy MEDIA.
