Saru's eye color changes

In some episodes Saru's eyes look green and others they look blue. Any ideas what's happening there?

might be the lighting they're using on different parts of the set

No idea. I know that in the pilot, he was wearing different contacts, but they decided to change the design so they had to CG-out his eyes. It could be something in the lens is iridescent somehow. In both those screencaps, they seem to match the accent color of the lighting in the scene, more-or-less, so it might be that they're just very neutral, like how some people's eyes seem to be different colors in different environments.

It's his own personal version of the alert system. Of course Kelpians have a different idea of which colors are which, so one of those could be his version of Red Alert.

I would think the green contacts could cause problems when he's in front of a green screen.
