San Francisco Trek Convention

My wife and I just got back. I thought I would post some pictures.

Conner Trineer and Dominic Keating answered questions, and told everyone that a new version of their Shuttlepod One show will be happening in the coming months. They were tight-lipped about what happened behind the scenes, but clearly it was a falling out over something.

Robert Picardo was there. Always funny, always a good time for the fans.

Brent Spiner talked about his new book, titled Fan Fiction.

The guys who call themselves the Star Trek Rat Pack (Ethan Phillips, Vaughn Armstrong, Max Grodenchik, Jeffrey Combs, and Casey Biggs) appeared together both at the main convention:

And at a Saturday Night concert, which was hilarious:

Todd Stashwick (Captain Shaw) made the scene with Terry Matalas.

And Melissa Navia stopped by (she flies the ship) said they're filming Season 3 of SNW, and she can't say a thing about it...

And probably the best panel of the weekend: Lower Decks (Tawny Newsome, Dawnn Lewis, Eugene Cordero). They were very funny, and really informative about the realities of the show. Eugene said he just met Jack Quaid for the first time three weeks ago!

There were many other guests but these were the highlights. We got pictures and autographs with everyone, including our first time meeting Jeri Ryan! :adore: I might post some of them later.

The convention was so successful, they've already announced a return for 2025. It was great to see so many people there this weekend (compared to 2017, the last one here).

Great time.

Wait. There are Star Trek conventions? When did this become a thing?

(j/k—glad you had a good time)

Looks like you had a ton of fun, @1001001. Thanks for sharing the photos and your report! Above all I’m super jealous you got to see the Lower Deckers doing a panel. I’m sure they were hilarious.

I’ll be attending FedCon in May, which will have almost the entire Strange New Worlds cast (they probably won’t be allowed to talk about season three either). I’m very excited for that, but I would trade almost each of them for seeing Tawny and the others live. Oh well, hopefully at another point in time.

Also looking forward to have photos taken with LeVar Burton and Jeffrey Combs.

I went to this convention. Sat on the other side of the theater. Might upload pictures after I look through them to see if any were good shots.

I agree that the Lower Decks cast was very good, as was Gates McFadden's entrance during that panel

You were there? So was I. Would have liked to meet someone from the boards there.

It was a great weekend. The Lower Decks panel was hilarious, and actually one of my favorite panels I've ever seen going to a Trek convention. I also really enjoyed how well spoken Melissa Navia is. I think that's the first time I've seen a castmember from SNW in an extended panel that didn't feel rushed.

I think my only two complaints were the celebrities not being told before they went out that there were microphones on each side of the room, and I wanted more Discovery representation.

Yes my wife and I had the VIP package, which was really cool.

The hotel was a bit of a problem, in that the only onsite restaurant seemed completely unprepared to have 1000 guests over the weekend. Saturday night we went next door to a nice sushi place.

Yes I would have liked to have some Discovery people there too. But then again…Jeri Ryan!!! :adore:

Did you go to the Saturday night Rat Pack show? It was pretty damn funny, complete with Ethan Phillips telling dirty jokes.

I have seen the Rat Pack in Vegas so I didn't go. They did show a new clip of Ethan Phillips from "To The Journey" giving us a taste of his comedy routine though. Glad it was a good show.
